Re: TV2 Custom Maps
Why is it that the maps I like are always the maps that other people hate?
I really happen to like waste - it seems well balanced to me and while it does seem to stalemate a bit more than some other maps, it's certainly not unwinnable - most of the time I've played it, one final point or the other did get captured at least once, usually more than once within the 1/2 hour time limit.
I'd also give it extra points simply for its uniqueness. Maybe other people's opinion of what a custom server should have is different from mine. Like everyone else, I would like to see high quality maps there. However, I would also like to be able to play maps there that are not simply a clone of the stock maps.
I'm not saying we should put every garbage map that there is on the server just because it's unique, but I'd like to see at least a few maps on the server that aren't a clone of either any of dustbowl, gravelpit, cp_well, or 2fort, and pl_waste does seem to be a pretty good map to me.
Simple curiosity: is there anyone who hates pl_waste because it stalemates too much, but likes warpath? I've seen warpath can drag on way, way worse than I've ever seen pl_waste drag on. (and yes, I like warpath too)
OK, go ahead, start telling me I'm completely nuts - I can take it

Hate Warpath.
Can't stand it.
Period.
But that's just my opinion. I try not to cause a fuss over it; I just stay away from that server.

I think the problem with pl_waste is that the cart seems to move back and fourth over a small area. I rarely see it move past the middle point after the initial struggle.

Any payload map is dramatically different with 8 people vs. 12 vs. 16 vs. 24. At a full server, the opposing PL map like waste is going to stalemate a ton more than at 8 or 12 because there are a lot fewer people in to be stopping opponents from pushing and the staggering of respawns all but ensures that one team will roll the other once they establish dominance of the kart at very low playercounts absent an unusual level of coordination by the team that has lost control of the kart.
I've only played PL-waste with small groups since the new rotation came out. Consistently one team got absolutely rolled. I guarantee you it would not be that way with 24 people.

If you're looking for a somewhat different map, or even if you're not you should consider this one, koth_Aurora.

One team gets a neutral intel in the middle, and as long as they hold it their timer goes down. Once the opposing team kills that guy, they can pick it up and then their timer goes down. Seems fairly hectic, and definitely unique.

Hello all,
I noticed you have koth_moonshine on the first page as a new map to test. I'm the map maker of this map and I want to say thank you for consideration of this map.
I wanted to check in and see how any testing went. I have had rave reviews so far on other forums but, I love any feedback you may have.
Thanks guys and enjoy.

Any opinions about bringing back cp_busytown ( http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/55691 )?

Re: TV2 Custom Maps
I hate Lazy/Busytown. The final point takes way too long to cap for it being a final point on a push CP map, making the match go on forever.
Not to mention that the 2nd-last point corridor is Sniper heaven.
But that's just me.

"So what have you been up to, man? Haven't seen you in so long!"
Any opinions about bringing back cp_busytown ( http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/55691 )?
I like busytown, and would be in favour of bringing it back (Lazytown isn't that great, but I like busytown).
Also hate lazytown/busytown. I could do with a very rare game of happycow for some reason, but that'd be about it.
Grrrrrrrrrr...why does everyone else always hate the maps I like?!
I like Steamroll...everyone else hated that.
I like pl_waste...it got a pretty decent reception the first time, but it seems that I'm the only one who still likes it.
I like wacky_races and balloon race, and everyone else hates those.
I hate happycow, but there's at least one person here who likes it.
I hate ctf_turbine, but it seems that was the only ctf map that the TV2 group liked.
I like busytown...and again, everyone else seems to hate it!
I know a new, very effective way to judge a map: ask my opinion, and take the opposite. If I like it, it must be bad, and if I hate it, it must be good!
