I didn't know you guys were doing this. I would be willing to show up from time to time for this. I enjoy customs too.

I still love desertfortress. It's kinda broken but I still love the concept. I can see why people don't care for it, though.TTHREAZ wrote: People may think I'm weird but this is my absolute favorite map in all of TF2.
To dial it way back, desertfortress is one of the few custom maps that used to draw on it's own, so we needed it in rotation along with Toy Fort to have a chance to draw any non-villuns. I am not sure we need to maintain those criteria now. . .

As much as I like Desertfortress, (Map I got my 2,004th Scout kill on) I still urge that we get a whole new custom rotation.

+1 for separating shenanigan maps from the normal custom rotation. Either a different server, or the occasional shenanigan map event. I don't mind them, but they do tend to be divisive.
I like Desert Fortress too, but it has been around a really long time. People (speaking for myself) who want to play on a custom server want variety and newness.

I am sorry I forgot about these. They look like good candidates to me!Supreveio wrote:I suggested a few payload maps a couple of months ago, and Stevo put them on the server. I suggest starting with these since they're already there.
PL_Borneo
PL_Manngrove
PL_Alpen
PL_Haste
Let's make a plan to get through all four of these next Wednesday, sound good? Anyone can download them now from the links to TF2maps, or you can use The Ville's fast download server.
I looked through the old posts and Suprevieo has suggested a ton of maps I want to try, we should be good for a few weeks at least.

Vote passed for Separation of silly maps and custom maps.Plinko wrote:Actually, though I did initiate the vote to wacky_races, I would really prefer that we separate custom map nights from shenanigans maps because the crossover appeal is not complete.
If we schedule a night with wacky and/or balloon races, falling and meleebarn type maps, would anyone object to said separation so we can focus only on "normal" gametype custom maps on Wednesday nights?

Since Stevo uploaded those PL maps onto the server, PL_Alpen has updated from version b2a to b4c, which contains balance and optimization fixes.

So, which maps will we be trying this week? So far I've seen CTF_Quarry and CP_Vertical suggested, but not much else.

I've not been able to look for new suggestions - I'm open to any ideas, including oldies, that would be worth trying.

I can't help much on that one; I haven't really gone looking for custom maps for over a year now so I don't know what's new and good.
cp_indulge? I think we did that before.
ctf_impact2... revised oldie
ctf_mach4... for classics value

There is a map called cp_blackmesa_final and it's really well done. Daryldime took me over to the server where the guys made the map and we played for a long time. Nice rendition of black mesa and lots of really good captures and flanking points. I highly recommend it. I believe it would be a good fit with our community!

I've played Blackmesa before. I think it'll need a good number of players to work well, which hopefully we'd have...

I remember liking indulge.Flaming Cheese Wheel wrote: cp_indulge? I think we did that before.

Impact2 I don't recall trying, but I might just be fuzzy.
mach4 should be saved for a derp night, it's not really playable any longer.
Blackmesa is on the server, I don't remember playing it before, though, no reason not to give it a try, right?
Quarry and Vertical are not on the server, we'd need them loaded up.
We never got around to cp_zig - version a16 is on the server - anyone know if there is a newer one?
I remember liking cp_follower, pl_halfacre and plr_panic - those might be worth resurrecting.

CP_Zig is now CP_Zinkenite and is version b3
