Dammit. I missed that there was a Madhouse show this season? I feel dumb now.

It's a good series though evidently not hugely-known. Reasonably pretty.

Not a huge amount of fighting for a Sengoku-period show.

So, uh, none of the anime this season seems that great.

What are you guys planning on watching? Any suggestions?

I need to see Girls und Panzer. There's also another season of Hidamari Sketch.

And there's more stuff, I just haven't settled on it yet.

I saw this anime and I thought, "Wheel is going to watch this."
Then I saw you replied to this topic and I thought, "Wheel is going to post about watching it."

I was surprised, however, to see that Sentai has been on a licensing frenzy. I think they already got like half of the anime this season.
I have to assume they can get a good deal on an anime that hasn't aired yet?

Just watched the first episode of Shinsekai Yori a.k.a. From the New World.
As I'm a sucker for scifi series with dark undercurrents I'll definitely be following it.

Sentai's probably praying that they can sell a lot of disks on this side of the Pacific, otherwise in a year they're going to be hemorraging money faster than Bandai.

But yeah... it seemed like every other day there would be a blurb on ANN titled "Sentai Filmworks licenses _______."

I could look for titles that aren't as obviously moe/slice-of-life, but the summer season's shows in the not-moe/slice-of-life category were disappointing. Then again, moe is pretty much everywhere now, it's just a matter of how much it is actually a reason for a show to exist in the first place.

Total Eclipse, for example, has shown some glimmers of not sucking in the last few episodes, but it spent too long being not very good so I don't really care about it now, plus their budget is not going to improve, plus the creators of the anime have said that it's not going to be about the mecha fighting, and is more about the rage-inducingly-blandly-written-romance that slaps self excuse me, was I ranting there?

SAO has gotten better slightly more than TE has, but it still has structural flaws of its own.

And I'm mentioning these two shows because they're both two-cours so they're not done yet.

I'm going to give Shin Sekai Yori a try also.
