My first car was a 73 Mustang.
THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW

1: It cost alot to feed a V8.

2: Tires are more fun to smoke than buy.

3: There is an 80-85% chance you will bend your 1st car.

4: Insurance on anything with a V8 will suck at your age.

5: You should give me all your points. :ik:

That's the other thing I totally forgot TY Ricen for mentioning it. The odds of having that pretty car more than 6 months is pretty slim. It'll be 6 months and some change before you post again for ideas on a new car. Best thing ever was starting me out with a box of a Camry before I switched to stick shift with the Acura.

Alright, I know this is going to make me sound like an old man, but maybe shoot for a more realistic first car? Having a mustang or whatever as a first car is a great idea, but truly an expensive choice.

Gas is gonna suck to pay. Repairs are gonna suck to pay. Insurance is gonna suck to pay.

Figure out where you'll be at that time, if you'll be making enough money to pay for the car and everything that ties in with it, and if you'll have any money left over afterwards.

My suggestion, first vehicle should be used, yet in good condition. Check out what the gas mileage is like, check insurance, and just be happy that you even have a vehicle.

I drove a 1989 Dodge Ram, it was free, Dad did any repairs needed, and they were only minor. Gotta love having a mechanic in the family. Gas sucked, but hey, 1 out of 3 aint bad. Plus I was put as secondary driver on it, so insurance didnt cost much.

My vehicle now that I pay for it all my own is a 1998 Oldsmobile Eighty Eight. Nice guy, comfortable, got enough room for me to fit in it nicely, lower on insurance, fair on gas. Payed a good price for it and it has low mileage. Thats what I'd do if I were you. Or maybe a Ford Focus if ur leaning towards a Ford, lol.

Sorry...none of them... :D
My first car was a Renault 5 that was supposed to be green but had more brown on it (rust!)
It had a huge engine (1.3L ok ok I'm European!) but did great handbrake turns....
1.3L wow... my first car was a rust coloured mark 2 escort 1.1L.
My second car (and Preacherman will remember his wife trying to kill it) was a 950cc Ford Fiesta....950cc ...thats 0.95L.
Third car was a 1.1L Citroen AX.
Fourth car was a 1.9L Citroen ZX
Fifth car was a Chrysler Neon.
Sixth car is a Dodge Caravan....
Seventh car is a Toyota Echo SE (dropped suspension, alloys, skirt, etc - wife liked it but can't drive it...go figure... )

actually if your mechanical a mustang isnt all the much to own. Ya, fuel would be unless again your mechanical and switch to a modern FI (actually is very inexpensive to do.)

Newer would be easier yes, but to me, old is a great way to learn.

My first car was a Mini Metro - red - Strontium Dog will fondly remember it as it left tram lines up his garden - oops hit the accelerator instead of the brake. (he was not a hapy dog) - just under 1lt engine

Then jumped to a Peugeot 405 - 1800engine
Then my favourite - Mazda 626glx - awesome (my Canadian speak here) - drank petro (ok gas) but went like a bomb (prob not a good analogy for N Ireland) but it did

1st Canadian car - Dodge (what else) Stratus - sporty but a Dodge
2nd Dodge Grand Caravan (family vehicle - can't really say car here)
Current Ford Windstar - family guy what can I say - but I mostly drive my big white van Ford Econoline

Kid just got his L - so I wont be allowed to drive again

Have to comment on this - It was soooooo funny

My wife got into the front and said she could drive - so Dog sat beside her (I sat behind but was beside myself with laughter - work thatone out)
She started to accelerate towards a wall and said "Which one is the break" - Dog nearly wet himself as he quickly put on the brake - In my memory he dived toward the footbreak with his hand - (tho he might just have pulled on the hand brake - but whichever - it was sooooooooo funny) - To this day he has never let her drive his car.

The good olde days - life was so simple
