I simply hate Macs because all the Mac users think that they have little magical elves running around inside their computer making it better than the piles of turd sitting inside PCs. They epic failz at realizing PCs and Macs have the exact same damn hardware (Core 2s, Nvidia GPUs, DDR2/3 RAM, etc...), it's basically just an OS difference.

Oh, I'd like to close by using a few excerpts from an inappropriate webpage,

If everything on a Mac just works, then why does a website called "Mac fix it" exist, a*******? Here are a few choice topics on macfixitforums.com:

-Login window stuck!
-lower caSe "S" key not working!!
-Menu bar keeps flashing
-I can't drag and drop!

Stupid user base aside, I will never own a Mac. It's not so much that I'm a PC loyalist. I'm not. It's that I'm not stylish enough to own one. Most iPod commercials feature guys with long hair, chicks roller skating, and guys wearing fedoras. I have dandruff, and I buy most of my jeans from a grocery store. I feel like in order to have a Mac, I need to be:

# An artist.
# In a band.
# Unemployed (see above).

This section was supposed to be longer, but I couldn't even install iTunes so I could beach about it. Not that I could have used it for what I wanted to anyway:
And for all the claims that a true musician uses a Mac, well I was in a band and looked into a mac system it it was going to cost almost $5,000 to be able to multichannel record. For that much it better be the best, until I found I could get a firewire band mixer (a normal band mixer with built in digital sound card so that it can record 24 tracks at once) for $350 and $100 for the program to record with. The Mac system that I was looking at could only do 8 channels at once
Now this is an interesting thing to hear. I always hear that if you are into

A. Art
B. Music
C. Video

Then, a mac was definitely for you. PC was not hip, unstable and lacked the artsy part. Now, I am starting to hear that even artistic types can't stand the machines?

I swear the iphone and the ipod are all that Apple has going for them.

not true.

when it comes to programming, mac shreds PC to peaces with its compiler.

(I'll always have a soft spot for Apple, as the ][+ and IIgs were my first two compys, but I've been with Wintel since the days of Doom.)

I like both.

But really, all I do is game, surf stuff and work.

Work is Windows and IE only and so forth. I do software demonstrations, so the box of apps I use is pretty small. I also do some tech support stuff, usually 'writing' converters (fancy macros, really), to convert files from one format to another.

What I like about my Mac experience is:

Never shut down. Never never never. It always just fires up and does what I need it to (laptop).

My work laptop gets confused if I switch from wireless to wired a few times and I have to reboot it to get network. Not a big deal, but i notice.

Apple TV + Mac Mini = win. There are probably lots of solutions for this, but I have a mac mini in my 'office' (it's actually peg boarded next to my gaming machine. We call that wall the house mother board). It can stream movies to my Apple TV, and I can use my iPod Touch as a remote for both devices.

Incidentally, this leads to another minor gripe. All the movies that I ripped, I can stream to my xBox 360s. I cannot watch the ones I buy from iTunes, though, unless I strip the DRM. Hate DRM. HATE HATE HATE.

Stream of consciousness ftw.

All in all, I am happy with both. When a task comes up, I just decide which environment will do best with it and go.

For me its not so much that I don't like macs but more that I don't like some of the people that use macs. We have people were I work that use macs, and they always have this smug "I'm a Mac user so I am sophisticated" attitude about them.

I have a PC at home and use a high end Mac at school. Both with the exact same software installed. The Mac is noticably faster loading programs and booting up. Aside from that, there's really not much else that sets it apart.

The thing I find most frustrating about Macs is the interface (for starters, why would Apple EVER think that a one button mouse was going to cut it). The way the system works (menu's at the top changing with each program), is insanely frustration. It's hard to tell what you have open and where each window is. You have to minimize it entirely to remove it from the screen, because no program has a background you can just see the other windows you have open. I usually have dozens upon dozens of windows open, and it becomes a ridiculous cluttered mess.

The next biggest thing that keeps me away from Macs is the fact that software is hard to find for it. You cannot play games on them for starters.

If I'm going to spend 2500 bucks on a computer, I'm going to get one that does everything. I'm not going to buy a Mac so I can use photoshop 15% more efficiently than on a PC.

Mac hardware is usually alright. It's their software I despise, it, to me anyway, is totally unintuitive.

Also, it doesn't help that Apple encourages an elitist culture in it's consumers. It makes me want to puke every time I see someone use "Micro$oft". I means jesus, at least they charge you for freaking service backs. Or, stop using a standard they developed. Firewire's not even on the new MBP, and almost all Mac accessories were firewire. Oh well, want a new MBP? Buy all new add ons WOOOHOOO APPLE!

Not to mention the BS they pulled with the new cinema displays.

I would be OK with all of this if it weren't such a damned double standard in the computing world.

On another note, anyone else play with the Windows 7 beta? I think it might be the best OS MS has ever made.

FOSS is ok if you don't need to feed yourself or your family with just your coding ability, since your work's profit potential is severely reduced. It's great for hobbyists and college professors though, since they have alternate revenue streams.
