So long story short (To save a wall of text), Dan was interested in learning how to map in TF2, so I told him I'd help him out by showing him what I know using a netmeeting/VNC client (Ended up using the free trial of GoToMeeting). As it turned out, it worked fairly well, so I figured I'd extend it out to everyone else in case you wanted to learn the basics. Basically, with GoToMeeting (Along with TS3), you can see everything on my screen while I explain it.

Just some heads-up:

-This trial only lasts thirty days.
-I am by no means an expert, but I can at least show the basics to get you started and hopefully take some of the fear of Hammer out of you.
-If they were up for it, more experienced mappers than myself such as Beeron or Mad-Hammer can join too. There's actually a function to allow me to hand off mouse and keyboard control to people, so I could learn things from them as well.

I just think this would be an interesting thing to do. I know that most people have probably wondered how to map in TF2 at some time, so what better way that knowledge transfer and spending time together?

At first, I thought you were talking too much in the TS channel so I moved to another. Then I asked what gator was doing, and he said he was watching you map a TF2 map. I ask if I could watch.

I actually found that quite interesting. Seeing how the basics are, it makes me want to get hammer and try out how much of a fail I potentially am. I could probably do it anyhow...

Anyways, great way to spend brief time. Good social time.

A suggestion might be that instead of doing this live, make a bunch of screencasts. Then anyone could get them and you wouldn't always be repeating lessons.

People could post requests in the form of something like "Hey, how do you do X"

I can explain most things with instructions and screen shots. Tutorial requests are always welcome.

I can also videotape anything I do as well. Would just have to record the TS3 audio as well and match it up with the video.

It took me a while to realize that was Bill O'Reilly. I get so confused at old pictures when he used to have hair xD
