Black Hawk for TF2..I hope

Post by BlackHawk » Fri Jun 27, 2008 11:49 am

So I have deiced to try and make my NS map into a TF2 map. The first version I plan will be an almost direct port. The Hive and Marine Start will become control points and there will be no real spawn rooms to start with (Possibly in version 2) the main goal is to have it somewhat ready for NS2. Once I have it ported I will then work on an "official" TF2 version if needed. I will try to keep you updated on my progress

Alright i have what I am calling a "proof of Concept" version. There is only one player start, but it is a near direct port. It looks terrible, but does work. This is just to show that I am able to get it ported. I managed to get most of the textures also proted, but only basically, nothign fancy. I did not compile it with lights yet, as I did not have time yet (I did not need to for this version) take a look and let me know what you think on the look of the map (In general, remember is was made for NS on the HL1 engine, not for TF2)

I hope this works, I have I have never made a map for any of the HL2 games, and considering it is almost all custom textures, I don't know if they are automatically added into the file, or if I am going to have to zip all of them up and post them. Let me know if I need to.

I don't see any textures, it's all pink and black checkerboard.

Also got an error message while running around:
Warning: OverloadCClientRenderablesList7
or something like that

Allright, unzip this to your

Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\your@email.com\team fortress 2\tf\materials

Folder. See if that makes it work

Here is an alpha version. It has the control points, only one player can play. The brush work is still the same as in the NS version, but now using TF2 textures. I have 3 of the 4 spawn rooms planned out and will be getting to those soon. I could use some feed back on size, and general views of the map. Remember, I will try to do some more detail work once I have it working how I want. Here is the download
