Re: Ville-ain No. 2
I just started becoming active at The Ville during the tail end of JCOM's presence here, and I remember him as one of the <TVB> legends. Honestly I didn't know much about him back then, just that he made The Ville what it was today. (Relative to back then) It's incredibly sad to read about his death. <TVB>, even all of The Ville, has had an immense impact on my life and now to see that one of its founders has passed is just hard for me to comprehend personally.

Awful news indeed, Villuns over the years owe a lot to JCOM.
In trying to think of a suitable tribute to JCOM, I unfortunately keep circling back to one that is a bit unconventional.
Back in the day I'd do occasional song parodies with a TFC theme. At some point I hit upon a partial parody from the Rocky Horror Picture Show's song Sweet Transvestite, which he seemed to get a kick out of.

Of course, the song is not complete, without the accompanying image (JCOM played pyro a bunch at the time):JCOM:
How do you do
I see you've met my friendly Lee Latham
He's just a little brought down because
When you knocked
He thought you were Ca-adman
Don't get strung out by the way I look
Don't judge a bloke by his cover
I'm not much of a man by the light of day
But by night I'm one hell of a killer
I'm just a sweet transvestite

He did think it was hilarious. I remember when he showed me. Didn't he use that pic as a sig for a while? EDIT: Now I'm thinking he used as a HL spray.John Doe wrote:Ahhh Greebo, the good old days.

Very sad. His family and close friends are in my prayers.
When I joined The Ville back in early '08, JCOM and his }]wVb> brothers were amongst the most warm and welcoming Villuns I encountered (a distinct incentive to participate). Always a delight to play with, and screw around with on the forums. I'm thankful for those times.

Thank you all for taking the time to remember him. He was a fine fellow and will be missed by all that knew him.
I'm going to his memorial today. I have been asked to say a few things. It's going to be tough.
The memorial is going to be held at the Lowe Mill. It's an old mill of some kind that is now an arts center. It's perfect.
Tyson produced a treasure trove of artwork in his short life. I will snap some shots with my phone and post them so you can see.
Again, thank you all for posting in this thread and saluting a fallen villun.

DOW, I am glad to hear there will be a memorial for Jcom, and as I said before and was echoed by many that replyed Jcom was one of the best friends I had that I had never met in person. Please express our condolences on behalf of the Ville, he played a big part in shaping this community and we will forever be in his debt.
I know saying a few things about Tyson will be tough, I dont envy you that task but I doubt there will be anyone that could do a better job of it DOW. Thanks for taking the time to keep us informed, I hope you can join us when we have a memorial night for Jcom, it should be happening soon.

These are really beautiful, DOW.
As an artist myself, I always say that our work is a piece of our soul.
Something to be treasured and never tucked away.
It takes courage to put yourself on canvas or paper, to open yourself up for critique.
I love that you all had his art displayed.
It's a piece of him, the man you all loved so much.
