Mortar class for TV2

Post by Dog » Mon Jan 08, 2007 1:53 am

I installed a mortar plugin for DoD. It's part of the original DoD but they never released it. This plugin allows players to become a mortar user. For the meantime, a limit of 10 mortars per team has been set until we get used to it, then it'll be set to 2 or 3...

You will need to bind some keys.
After selecting your team, type class_mortar in the console.
Bind three keys:

bind "[" "mortar_up"
bind "]" "mortar_down"
bind "x" "mortar_deploy"

or whatever keys you want.

When you respawn, you'll have a mortar.
Go prone.
Press the mortar_deploy key and mortar will deploy.
Point up in the air, press mouse1 and have fun.
The mortar_up and mortar_down keys increase or decrease the power of the mortar.

Enjoy!

You only get 30 shots.......I have to get the bots to give me ammo some how.

Whoa whoa, you can't add a class!!! That's like adding an eleventh commandment! lol jk

Sounds fun Dog, can't wait to try it. What's next? A flak 88 operator?

Gimme feedback on this one.

I played it for a couple of hours this afternoon and quickly got tired with it. The damage and explosions are great but I think this class might only be any good on bigger maps...

On DB Cooper's request I changed the number of rounds to 10 (from 30) because of mortar spam (!) On the smaller maps it got harder to get out of spawn.

On the other hand DB Cooper got really good with it  and figured out how to cause the most damage!

So let me know if it's worth keeping...

IT was fun, I'll say that. Definitely changing the rounds to ten might stop the spam :P

I guess we have to remind people that spawn camping at the Ville is frowned upon this includes mortar fire.......

the mortar wasn't bad, unless u get bombarded with it every round. Frosty had a suggestion that it should had a one person limit per team. And I think Dog's right, it should really only be used on bigger maps. Kalt, Sturm, Saints I think would be good maps.

Sadly Firebird, we killed it because it would mess up maps like Kalt, for unknown reasons. People would throw a nade and it would hang there in mid air

So we got rid of it.
The flamethrower class was added, but has been turned off as the VilleCup is coming!
