Harley Mishap

Post by Pappy » Fri Sep 21, 2007 10:21 am

Hi All
Just a line to say Wed.morning on my way to work at 5:20am I stopped at a red light near my home.As the light turned green I proceeded to go through the intersction when the car on the other side deceided to cut in front of me.Thank god I was still in first gear.I had a choice either hit him broadside or drop the bike which I did.A guy waiting on the southbound lane came over and helped me up and we picked up the bike and got it to the side.I ended up with a scraped left elbnow and a bruised left hip.No real damage to my Harley, but I was shaking and mad that the car never even stopped.I'm real lucky the good Lord was on the back.I will return to work on Monday. So for those who ride don't trust the other guy,he dosen't care about you.I'll see U online this hasn't stopped me from playing(as bad as I have been lately)
Pappy

Better to replace some parts on a bike than a Pappy!

People never watch for motorcyclists. Especially now with all the over-sized SUVs on the road. A guy I know used to ride with a large steel hammer. He called it his "turn signal".

I'm glad God gave you the quick thinking response that probably saved your life. I'm glad you are still with us!
As an owner of a large passenger van and having had an SUV, I noticed that there are a lot of blind spots that up to two cars can be hidden in. I am extra diligent because I am very aware of that factor. I just don't think most drivers are. STILL, I wish the guy had stopped, for your sake! AAARGH, don't get me started.

Hang in there, Dude. Been riding for 32+ years, know what ur talking about. ALWAYS what out for the other guy. I don't trust nobody. My policy is, if we don't make eye contact, I'm gonna expect them to pull out in front of me. For all you bikers out there, go take a MC safety course, and I don't care how long you been riding.. You will be suprised what you have been missing/ignoring/letting slip by.

Our local Goldwing club is constantly keeping us riders up-dated with solid, sensible ideas as what to look out for. I got a slew of lights on the front of my bike, flashing brakelights, and the LOUDEST horns I can find. You'ld be suprised how many people I've scared the s*** out of with the horns, just because they wern't paying attention!

Bull said that..
