Need some advice!
Re: Need some advice!
When I spec people while I'm dead, the single biggest problem I see with people's style of play is that they try to shoot while moving. It's not that they try to shoot while they're running, but they don't wait until they are completely stationary before they fire. You have to be completely still before you fire, or you are going to miss. The secret is to learn how to move, stop on a dime, fire, and move again, all within a split second.
Now, no more secrets from Cake's recipe book!

The one tip I heard a long time ago that always stuck with me is "You must be fearless! Fearless like bot!" Don't hesitate, chances are your opponent won't, and if they do, it just works in your favor. The one thing I see, and HEAR a lot are most people not even trying to be remotely quiet when they play, most people just clunk around throwing caution to the wind, listen closely and it will give you a distinct advantage in DoD.

Sounds crazy.
But learn to play DoD:Source.
The hit boxes are smaller and circular (rather than rectangular) and the recoil bigger so you learn to hold the gun better to actually kill people. When you drop back into DoD1.3, targets are easier.
Playing Source changed my game!

Same could be said for a faster paced game, such as TFC or AVP. When u get used to hitting targets that are moving at higher speeds, slower speeds should seem easier.
A little unorthodox trick I do is, play flash games that are based on accuracy or timing. Like 3D pong or an accuracy shooting game. Makes for quicker reaction times and better accuracy.

To get a much better control of recoil, raise your sensitivity way up, it takes a while to get used to but the increased sensitivity means faster reaction by your pc to the target as well as less pull down to control recoil.
Fresh enemy corpses. YUMMY!!

I dunno about the sens though, I had it high for the longest time and my aim sucked, even the slightest movement would throw my aim off especially for long distance shots. I found that a sense of 1.3 was best to keep better control of my gun but thats just me.
It's generally a good idea, that if you don't see any teammates around and you hear someone running, its the enemy.
And it may slow you down a little but I find using the little display map helps tons. You get info on where people are dying and where a trap may be. As well as if like I said you hear someone running but no teammates are around it WILL be the enemy.
The most important thing I can stress is learn how each of the guns sounds when its firing and which side it belongs on. Unless you see in the kill list that someone on your team has taken an enemy's gun, if you hear that gun firing, its the enemy.

After using rifles for a while, switching back to the automatics makes me feel like I'm cheating.. You get used to having one chance to kill someone and then having to dodge their fire, but with the auto you can just spam away at their heads. It's also nice when you get caught in many vs. 1 situations, after you can handle them with a rifle, using an automatic will be just that much easier.

lol so says the guy who has his sensitivity at like 3... im running at like 9.5 ^_^
And yeah Kurosaki ur right, having higher sensitivity is a trade off. You can spin around faster thus cover more ground, but you give up something when it comes to fine tuning your shots.

I 've also had trouble seeing in the dark or long distance. I've adjusted my monitor and resolution, but can't seem to find a setting that helps. Maybe I need a large flat panel!. Alot of really great helpful tips. I'm working on them already, right Ellroy!

long distance is an issue for me too, as for the dark I do have my brightness and gamma cranked so I can see in places that others might find too dark.
I have to agree with Ichigo, use the mini map, dont make much noise (dont always run) and listen listen listen! Listen for fire, listen for other people moving, and be prepared to react!
Also, crouching will allow you to be more accurate, and it reduces the target that the enemy has to shoot at.
2 other things I wish to suggest, dont camp, the game is much more fun if you move up, charge hard, fight a good fight, respawn and try again
Lastly, the game is just that, a game. Dont take it too seriously, just have fun playing with your fellow Villans, dont get too stressed if your not doing well, just contribute to your teams goals and objectives and have fun.
If you find your stressed in game and not having fun, let me know, I will slap you around like Ellroy until you start having fun again

Re: Need some advice!
Turn the brightness up from your graphics card directly to deal with dark issues, thats what i do, almost all dark spots are eliminated, helps for taking care of campers.
To do this:
Right click on your desktop
Go to properties
On the tabs on top, go to the rightmost one labeled "settings"
In that view, in the bottom left you will see a button labeled "Advanced" hit it
On the avaialble tabs up top you will see one leading to your graphics card or graphics chip or integrated graphics (it usually has a symbol next to it) hit it
Now it will either go directly to the screen you need or one that has a button that says "graphics properties" hit it
Mess around in there and you will see a slider for brightness and one for gamma. Turning up your brightness during DOD to around 115-120% usually takes care of all darkness problems.

Re: Need some advice!
here is what I have learned...which is why i get annoyed most of the time with mic communication and have stopped playing dod all together for awhile...for the most part...
SOUND!!! OMG SOUND OMG I CAN HEAR EVERYTHINGGG!!
sound is the most crucial part of shooter games I don't care what anyone says. you can have the worst aim ever on DoD and still kill them as long as you pay attention to where the noise is coming from so when they pop up you have shot them instantly before they could react.
perhaps i will play again when school doesn't overtake my life and i finish the storyline to Guild Wars: Nightfall. But for now I will take the words my l33t cousin told me.
