Re: TV2 Custom Discussion
why was gydan removed from the server?

We were mainly trying to look to replace some maps with better customs.
It definitely was not unbalanced. BLU was able to cap in a fair amount of time, RED had a decent chance of defending. Although, 70% of the time, the match would end up towards the last point and just stay there. And trying to attack/defend the last point seemed very boring. The layout didn't have anything promising, really.
Gydan wasn't a terrible map but it wasn't great either. It was more like. Tolerable. Which is probably the main reason we didn't want to include it in the map keep list. While the map was tolerable, we had too many tolerable maps on the map already that outweighed the generally liked maps. Playing too many tolerable maps for long periods of time eventually leads the person to get really bored and leave or end up hating the map rather than just bearing with.
In response to Zwiffle's post, I think it was mainly the props and such that were thrown all over the map that made the map FEEL small. I don't think it played that badly with 24 people though.
EDIT: Oh, and I need to know if anyone agrees with the maps I said yes for so I can PM them to Dog and he can get them up. We can discuss the others later and see if anyone disagrees with my no votes, but I'm eager to get some of the liked ones up to test them out and see if they work and to attract more people to the server rather than waiting until we agree on eveerryy sinnggglee map suggested.
And for those too lazy to go to the previous page, the maps I would like to see added are:
CTF_Chaos
CTF_Steamroll (Which counts more as an OTHER map than CTF)

Thanks to Dog, Chaos and Steamroll have been added and Cranetop has been re-added to the voting list.
We're going to try out the two new maps tonight (Assuming they get voted, that is).
Here's the server's current map list, not to be mistaken with our map suggestion list which uses the same listing format. I just like listing things this way because it's organized.
5 Control Point (3)
# CP_Freight
# CP_Raiden
# CP_Figer5
Round Change/3 Control Point (4)
# CP_Corporation
# CP_Broma
# CP_Observatory
# CP_Boulder
Payload (4)
# PL_Mill
# PL_Hoodoo
# PL_DB_Heights
# PL_Cranetop
Capture the Flag (2)
# CTF_Mach4
# CTF_Chaos
Other (4)
# 4CP_Desert Fortress
# 3CP_Fallout
# CTF_Steamroll
# 3CP_Toy_Fort
So as you can see at the moment, we're pretty full on maps, especially for payload which is double the amount we intended to have.
We should probably focus on the current maps on the server and decide what stays and what goes before (re)adding any more new ones.

My current opinion:
Mill should go. I was willing to give it some extra time and tries, but it seems like most of the regulars despise it, and the people who like it don't necessarily like it for gameplay as much as for aesthetics. That'll cut down our total number of PL maps as well.
Fallout or Figer5 should go. I prefer Figer5, since it seems at least a little more strategic (Snipers and Engineers have some use, unlike on Fallout). Neither of them is a horrible map, but if we're trying to declutter things, one of them could get cut.
There are also several others that I wouldn't mind seeing go, but there's enough support for them that they should probably stay regardless.

Re: TV2 Custom Discussion
Can we update Cranetop to B8 (http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/65823)?
The version on the server is still B6.

Cranetop has been updated to B8.
So at the moment, we're thinking of getting rid of pl_mill.
I personally like both Figer5 and Fallout, so I can't decide on which to remove if I had to choose. It's all dependent on what the people here prefer.
Fallout is smaller and faster paced.
Figer is bigger and a bit more laid back. Gives you some time to think about where you wish to go or what to attack.
Any thoughts on Chaos and Steamroll?
I heard a lot of people didn't really like Steamroll during the matches.

I didn't really like Chaos or Steamroll, but Chaos is far superior to Steamroll. It's actually playable and you can actually capture the flag. You can capture the flag on Steamroll, but it's not a satisfying experience by any means.
I like pl_mill when there's a full or nearly full server after you get past the first stage and before you get to the third stage.
I would keep cp_fallout, I like that map, it's not a normal map. An asymmetrical map that plays well is difficult to come by. Figer is a bit big, and I just can't decide whether I like it or hate it, so I'll say it's meh.

Let's not rush to judge either of the new maps - they've been on the server for all of two days. I certainly know that my initial opinion of by gyden and figure5 has changed since my first round of each of them.
