By the way they reacted, you'd think I shot the cat in the face in front of them.
hahahha I couldn't help but think of the scene in Boondock Saints where the cat explodes.
LOL i loved that scene.

Like i said in one of the other threads, the decapitations are starting to make me sick, like literally physically sick
lol how come?
I dont know man... perhaps its a little too much.. I know i may seem like a hypocrite.

Guess what Ladee said, seeing the body is a bit much

I don't think I've even had a good look at a decapitated body, yet. Usually when I'm running around with my sword, I don't stop what I'm doing after a kill to have a look at what I just did.
where doing this man.
where MAKING THIS HAPEN.

That is way to violent for the TF2 universe, I would expect that in L4D, but I would not think that TF2 would be that violent.

TF2 has always been insanely violent unless you have party mode turned on. How is a decapitated corpse more gruesome than the gibbing that was already in the game? Isn't TF2 the same game in which the kill-cam zooms in on a piece of your corpse and tells you what you're looking at?

L4D, though I haven't played it too much, didn't seem as violent as TF2. When people died, they were just swarmed with zombies, picked-up by a Smoker or a tank slapped them into oblivion. The only excessive gore I can think of in L4D was the Hunter when he pounced on someone, but even then it didn't rip off anyone's head...

It just seems more gruesome to me,it seems to be a little to much when you see a decapitated copse spewing blood from where it's head used to be.

L4D will be considered more violent because of blood splatter, the game looks to be realistic. TF2 is a cartoon essentially. With the whole kill cam thing and gibs, its more or less considered amusing.

I don't see how decapitating is any different than blowing up a heavy and seeing his head roll around on the floor. Maybe I'm not getting the full effect since I turn all my settings to the lowest possible.

L4D2 is now much more violent than TF2. Mostly due to how zombies are damaged, since you can shoot off limbs and essentially eviscerate certain areas (shooting them in the back/side shows the ribcage).

Look, I don't begridge anybody what bothers them. It's a subtle difference and I can see it.

I had a weird one last night, I got a kill cam that was just a blank face on the ground in a pool of blood, it was kinda creepy which I'd never felt from TF2 before.

L4D2 is much more violent. Shoot a zombie with a high-powered gun in the gut and you can watch his intestines fall out :D

Are there any settings that can tune the gore down (or off)? I don't get any enjoyment out of the meat chunks and wouldn't mind trading them for one more FPS.

When people die they burst into confetti and balloons. I'm not sure if that's a server-side thing or what. Carpe knows.

i remember tfc had a gib_count sort of command that you could put from 0-99 or so. generally lowered it back then to save on slower systems . Not sure if tf2 has it or not.

you can also set the violence_* commands to 0 which should help make it less bloody.
