Yeah that whole penalty for dropping the flag was a bit much...it's common strategy to send in a Scout to touch the intel for a second only to instantly die, thus leaving the intel sitting around longer for a bigger push to take it definitively.

But it's already been taken care of, so nevermind :D

Melee kills worth less now...phooey.

I would just like to say that I think that "destruction" does not reward enough points. (IMO)

I think it is something like 2 pts - turret and 1pt for teleporter and dispenser.

To me it seems it should be:

Turret - 5 pts
Teleporter - 2 pts
Dispenser - 2 pts

Unless there is a way to reward based on the level of sentry. Then:

Level 3 - 5 pts
Level 2 - 3 pts
Level 1 - 2 pts


It's just that trying to take out a level 3 turret is a tough job not to mention one of the most important objectives in order to cap points.

Two points is just not enough ... again IMO.

I know that you have been tweeking the point system and it seems pretty balanced. Thank you for trying to balance the system in ways that favor teamwork over a Deathmatch atmosphere.

Anyway, if you could re-evaluate the scoring for destroying turrets, teleporters and dispensers, that would be greeeeeeeat ..... mmmmmmkay ? :wink:

And again, a big thank you to all who make this community the place that I spend my TF2 gaming time at.


( OT. By the way .... what a PITA it was to make my signature. It has been years since I messed around with making animated gifs. If anyone can add my name to the ani .gif for me, I'd greatly appreciate it. )

i think people spy revenge out of hurt pride just as much as fer points, if not more, when i snipe some poor foo to domination they almost always change class and hunt.

I was getting that too Stress...maybe after we each get 2 dominations in the same game we can both switch to engi and set up an impenetrable fortress?

Hahaha, I was like, where'd my 4k points go??? Then My friend reminded me of the stat reset :roll:
I like it, went up about 50 ranks in an hour or 2 :D

I see that a lot too when I snipe. If I see one player get shot two or more times, often I'll get backstabbed by that same person a few minutes later. Snipers are easy Spy prey and delicious for paybacks :D

As for points, Sentries are always a point of contention.

To me, I feel Engis should get NO points simply for a built sentry. The points should slide upward for the destroyer depending on level (1, 3, and 5 points respectively). That way, the Engi only gets points if he builds his sentry in an area where it will kill enemies (i.e. help the team).

That's just my two cents.

I think you should get more points for destoying an object based on how good the player is on his stats


So say I take out [BIO]TheGerman's SG (Me at a low level would get lots of points for taking out SG of German (at high level)

=I get 26 points

but if he kills me he gets 3 points

I really don't see that all that often(outside of dustbowl), most of the time they'll be like
"Tee Hee, I'll switch to sniper and kill that sniper that got me."
Just to be wtfpwned cause they're taking on someone who has a hell of a lot more experience as a sniper and better reaction times.

But when they do go spy to backstab the sniper, they're usually just focusing on that 1 sniper, when they could be focused on a sentry gun preventing their team from advancing.
Happens in dustbowl quite a bit You'll pop a guy enough times that he will go spy and go straight for the sniper.
What do you think happens? Well usually he sucks at being a spy and the team sees him uncloak so he get machetted losing pts with the 2.00 modifier.
If he does get the sniper, he's usually picked off by a sentry or the snipers alerted everyone that a spy is around.
In the long run though he's only hurting his own team.
