First of all, to answer Enzo's question - Whether it was intentional or not, I think the pre-match uber is both a good idea, and in Valve's best interest to keep. There are too many maps that are nearly impossible without it if you get a team with good defense.

I know that attacking leg 2 of dustbowl would be a nightmare without a pre-match uber. I don't feel that it's unfair either. Both teams have an equal opportunity to utilize it. I know that when I play medic on Dustbowl/offense, I ALWAYS try to get an uber before the match starts. Or, if I am playing solly, I will help medics get uber by rocket jumping all the way to first cap, or sometimes just get them to about 70% uber by ... I dunno what people are calling it - but cabinet shooting. lol That puts them just shy of full charge by the time we hit the bunker area - and they usually get uber JUST as gate is going up that way.

I think removing the pre-match uber would be limiting, and would annoy a lot of people pretty bad - myself included honestly. Otherwise, you need nearly a minute to build an uber - and that's hoping that you don't die. It's a tactical advantage - yes. But unfair? Not in the least. I have played on teams that are HIGHLY effective with NO medics at all. I have played other teams that build 2-3 ubers before match starts, and still fail to take a single point.

The Uber is only as good as BOTH the players utilizing it. Reading the read of this particle article should give you an idea of the frustrations medics can face when using an uber charge. Everything from not enough carnage, all the way to MY personal worst - I ubered a soldier, and he started looking around bewildered before he RAN AND HID in a sideroom..... *sigh* In turn, a medic that misuses the uber has contributed nothing to their team - other than the incidental healing that took place while building said charge. An overly early charge, and you won't even see an enemy while ubered. Overly late, and you and partner are both dead. As medic, we have all done both. You just learn when and where to use your uber, and when to save it. I personally (on that note) like to use my uber up as soon as possible to minimize the chance of getting backstabbed/sniped/crit rocket/crit demo killed before you can deploy your ubercharge. THAT is one of the most frustrating things in the world to me.

The pre-match Uber can sometimes be Blus first and best chance at making a decent push on Dustbowl, on just about any of the caps. 2 or 3 well placed sentries can prove almost impenetrable without an uber push or a fantastic team effort.

Completely agreed Carpe. The Axe might be mighty, but sadly, it still needs a person to carry it where it needs to go. And sg's do a fabu job of ... de-spawning the axe wielder.

Indeed, but sentries of all levels have fallen to the axe ;).

Sentries are no match for the axe. Thats a given. But the person wielding the axe is soft and fleshy. If only the axe had a giant robot to wield it. It would rule the entire world...

Axe vs 56 mm Flechette cannon - that is the real question.

I think no matter how you look at that, some one loses though.
