Crashing
Ok my tf2 keeps crashing on me. I have had it happen 3 times in like 30 minutes. My computer says that hl2 has stoped working. Anyone else been getting this message? Any ideas on what I can do so that this stops. It only happens on tf2 and nothing else.

Yeah. ..I had this happen to, the only thing that has worked for me is forcing TF2 to start in direct x 8.
Open up your Steam Games List, right click on TF2, click properties, click on "set launch Options", type this in w/out quotes: "-dxlevel 81"
I've had crashing since day one, and this was teh only thing that worked for me. Also, update your video and sound drivers. Scan for viruses, you know the drill. Also visit the Steam SUpport website and forums for FAQs and similar problems

This tread might help if you haven't looked all the way through it. There were several ideas/fixes throughout the thread.
