We don't KNOW to what extent the usefulness of Jarate on burning victims is, so until we do, stop freaking out. I'm a Pyro too, you don't see me going nuts over it :P
My first statement was badly put. Let me rephrase it more completely with its full intended nuance (as I was too lazy to do the first time).

My point was that they're placing a significant component of one of the Sniper's weapons at odds with the Pyro's main weapon. This is most likely going to result in a situation where a component of the Sniper's Jarate is largely without use or the Pyro suffers a nerf. Considering the Pyro's existing deficiencies, I feel that Valve shouldn't be doing this. Unless the class in hand actually deserves the nerf, such an action creates a lose-lose situation.
Why is everyone thinking that this weapon is only going to be used to nerf Pyros.

It also has a side effect to the enemy, guys. Every enemy, not just Pyros.

I'm surpised we're making a big deal out of it's ability to put out fire (honestly I can almost always find a medkit or medic if I'm on fire) and not it's ability to disable spy cloak.

That's because these are the first new items that counter a spy ability directly, while it's yet another one that counters a pyro ability, it does feel like every class upgrade nicks the pyro down a peg. That's why I said it dilutes more than nerfs.

Really, depending on how it works, Jarate will be another incentive to play a forward sniper. If there's splash effect (gotta, dontcha think?), tossing that bad boy into a crowd of defenders is going to be its primary use and probably will be a good pairing with the Huntsman, don't you think?

If anything, I'm wondering why no one is joining me in the barrage of complaints towards the Sniper getting a jar of urine!

I HAVE NEVER ASSOCIATED WITH TOLIET HUMOR AND I NEVER WANT TO. THE POOR SNIPER HAS BEEN VIOLATED AND ALL OF US NEED TO GIVE HIM A HUG TO MAKE HIM FEEL BETTER.

The urine jars might have been in Meet the Sniper, but that was just a quick shot in a video to show time lapse. I don't want to walk around the map then suddenly get hit by a jar of pee and be mocked by all the cool kids watching!

If Jarate is really really real real and not just a joke Valve wants to push a bit further, then I demand a future clothing option for the Spy where he can be shirtless in reference to Meet the Spy.

Yeah I was pretty excited over the whole Spy Update conspiracy and whatnot, but then they just pulled the rug from under me and I am now crying over the fail that is the Sniper Update. None of the Sniper weapons look remotely good to me or interesting, and the Jarate is by far the most depressing unlockable ever I think, even worse than the Scout energy drink thing.

So really they're releasing an epic win update coupled with an epic fail update - I mean really? A jar of piss? A shield to counter backstabs? A bow and arrow? I insist these are all just jokes, and the real Sniper update is coming later. I refuse to believe Valve would do this. :(

O come on Zwiffle. You haven't even tried them yet. Also don't insult the huntsman, it will be cool.

I don't mind the Bonk! Drink. Even if I don't like it that much for in-game purposes, I still appreciate it for humor purposes (YOU KNOW YOU LOVE THE MARIO NOISES SCOUT MAKES WHEN DODGING).

JARATE, HOWEVER.

OH LORDY.

I agree 100%

If I was a sniper, I'd be a little upset at the update. But, we haven't used the new stuff yet, so they might work good, but I have my doubts.

The biggest thing I have to look forward too with this update is the new opportunities for mappers that come with the new maps. New gamemode, new props, weather effects, etc. Should lead to some good custom maps.
I am the 1%!

Bah:

Ambassador: Awesome

Cloak and Dagger: Will probably be a good sidegrade

Dead Ringer: Might be useful.... until the enemy catchs on

Huntsman: Helps the mid-range sniper tons. I look forward to this unlock.

Jarate: Childish but it might be good. Honestly how do you make a sidegrade for the SMG?

Razorback: ........... no comment.

The sniper is a very strong class as it is (at least in the right hands), I think the update will be good for sniper players in that it gives some value to get in the fray a bit more.

If nothing else, the razorback will make a few mediocre spies think twice which can only be good for you as a sniper. The dead ringer might have the same value.

Stop complaining until you've used the unlocks please.

Also, I'm looking forward to both updates.

I just think that the Jarate is a little low brow... I mean, tf2 is silly, but that's just juvinile...
