Getting next gen consoles?

Curious whether folks are getting the next gen consoles or not. I'm on the fence, I think I want to upgrade my PC instead...but I also feel like I have to own a console.

I think they both look good, probably slight preference for the playstation. I need to do more research on what games are on what. I'll probably wait for 6 mon to a year to see what the game landscape looks like and give in to my better judgement.

If I get one it will probably just be a PS4. My consoles for the most part just collect dust, and the stuff I've seen from the new consoles has done little to make me want one right away. I used to get hyped for new consoles, but everything about these new ones just makes me go meh.

I have a xbox 360 that hardly gets used. I'm most likely going to get a newer video card ( $200 range) in the next few months.

It is what I got as well. If I want good graphics I play on my computer. If I want a fun casual game for my couch or living room I play the wiiu

Not to mention that a good chunk of the games on PS4/XBone are going to be ported to/from PC anyway.

At what point do we think that games won't get ported between systems? Thinking back to the Steam Box thread where the idea of having everything on your computer and then having it go to your tv; seemed like the idea was to get away from a console and only go PC gaming.

Are there reasons to have a console other than being able to play on your couch? (Something you can sort of do with Steam). The controller vs using a mouse? I'm not a real tech savy guy anymore, but I assume that the PC is still more powerful with the benefits that come with being a fully dedicated computer (and the price tag too I suppose)

The only reason I have consoles anymore is for platform-exclusive titles. I won't get a console for that purpose until it has at least three to five exclusive titles that I want. The Wii U, for instance, was something I ignored completely until E3, at which point it finally convinced me with Sonic, Donkey Kong Country, Super Mario 3D World, and Mario Kart 8. Nintendo in particular is extremely protective of their platform-exclusive titles (I think it's actually all that keeps them alive and relevant at this point). The PS4 and Xbone likely won't have very many exclusives as they lack Nintendo's level of brand identity and quantity of defining franchises.
