Dwarf Fortress
I'm pretty sure I've asked before, but does anyone here play Dwarf Fortress?
For those who dont know, it's pretty much the most hard-core nerd game I've tried, with a sheer cliff of a learning curve. Anyways, I've been out of it for a year or 2, so I'm essentially square 1 again. I'm basically just looking for anyone with knowledge of the current game, or maybe someone to start up a Fortress bloodline/story line with.

I am known to strike the earth on occasion. However, I'm not very good.

For me, !!FUN!! usually comes in the form of a goblin raid or seige.

Re: Dwarf Fortress
I played for a little bit but stopped because I couldn't figure out how to do anything.
Literally, I couldn't figure out how to make the dwarfs cut down trees.

Re: Dwarf Fortress
I freaking love Dwarf Fortress, but I need to play it more often. It's a fantastic game when you get into it.

Re: Dwarf Fortress
Ok, now I'm hooked on the game again... Probably won't see me around Tf2 for a while now....
Edit: Yep. Addicted. Played 6 hours of it today... That's sad. But! My fortress is thriving with my current population of 62 dwarves. Recently survived a goblin ambush and a couple wereserpents. Unfortunately snatchers grabbed two children early in the first year... The parents arn't too happy with me.

I'd be down for a succession fort if we cap the number of Dwarves to something sane like 80 - 100 with no more than 20% children. Most of my forts are too safe and succumb to FPS death.

Re: Dwarf Fortress
It is very easy to game and you definitely can reach a point where there's not much that can get you. Depends largely on the resources available at start though as to how quickly you have to develop.
I found keeping the levels small helped immensely with FPS.
