Re: MechWarrior Online
I forgot how expensive it was to repair Ferro-Fibrous armor... mistake rectified.
I'm debating a reversion from 2x SSRM-2 on my Jenner to 2x SRM-4. The thing moves so fast that I'm less likely to want to bother with a lock versus making a deflection shot and continuint to run the hell out of there.

Going to try a Cataphract with a 210 standard engine, Gauss, UAC-5, MPL, Tag. Generous ammo supplies. Full armor. Only 10 DHS though. And one jump jet.
Most of the other 'phracts I have seen tonight have been ballistic abominations, why not this one?

Re: MechWarrior Online
I tried a few different builds out:
2x AC/5, 2x AC/2
UAC/5 AC/20
2x UAC/5
I find that I can only run it for a few matches, and then I get tired of not being able to kill anything faster than 80kph.

Re: MechWarrior Online
I just watched a guy get killed because he was fighting a Streak Cat that had only one leg and instead of shooting off the other leg, which had no armor and an orange internal structure, kept blasting away at the Cat's mostly-intact torso. Predictably, he got his face shot off with SRMs first.
Screw dignified body kills. You're fighting a Streak Cat.

Re: MechWarrior Online
Streak cats are a wee bit OP right now, enough so that my team calls them priority targets before dual gauss mechs.

Re: MechWarrior Online
Well, it was OP, then two weeks' worth of only-kinda-nerfed, then almost as OP again. In the game I mentioned in my other post, I had just been killed by a second Streak Cat, so I could watch the other guy fail to kill the first Streak Cat that I'd been engaging. I actually did the leg damage to it while both of us were trying to jump over a hill and I got lucky with a Gauss shot.
I was grumbling about "IN TABLETOP AMS SHOOTS DOWN SRMS!!!!one!!!1!" in the game last night. The funny part was I was driving a Streak Cat at the time. (This is right before I mentioned taking the thing apart to get money for the 'phract.)
And there's definitely been at least one all-Streak-Cat pugstomper lance out there.

Re: MechWarrior Online
Yeah, when it's 1 single streak-cat it's not so bad.
When it's 1 as part of a 4-man team it can be dealt with.
When it's 2 both using ripple-fire as part of a 4man team and they're not crappy pilots you may as well just out-of-bounds yourself.

Re: MechWarrior Online
When it's four... let's face it, the game doesn't have a good counter for some things.
I also think I've seen more of them since the game went to lance-sized premades.

Re: MechWarrior Online
Buddy, what you really want is an assault 'Mech. Don't gimp a Dragon like that.
Also, my 'phract continues to get cored ridiculously easily. I mean, even the Catapult was more survivable, and that's got even more sticking out the front!

So I think that Caustic Valley game demonstrated that it can be impossible to just back away from a multiple Streak Cat rush...

Re: MechWarrior Online
I remember one time my unit was running a lance with 3 Streak Cats.
I was the only cool (or not?) guy running a 8Q with triple threat PPCs.
Needless to say I didn't contribute much, they killed everything before I got there. Much hate was thrown our way

I signed up for the beta during The Ville Cup. Watched the tutorial vid and that's it, haven't played yet. I did enjoy both the strategical aspects of the DOS version, and the arcade style PS1 port. MWO sounds like it combines both. And lasers. And grinding.
Soon I will be keen to your jargon.
Holy moly, someone other than FCW posted. At least you didn't fill the shoutbox with your incoherent robot jargon like he does.(LSAP)Duke Nukem wrote:I remember one time my unit was running a lance with 3 Streak Cats.

Re: MechWarrior Online
My first suggestion: join one of the TeamSpeak servers, there's several with their info posted on the Forums.
I frequent the Comstar NA and Comstar EU servers.
Therein you will find a set of channels including one or more dedicated to training, where you can find people to help you learn the game. There's also LFG and the dropships, which are for temporary grouping.
