Harvest Moon: Animal Parade

Post by BigBiker05 » Fri Jan 07, 2011 9:31 am

So just wondering if there are any other Harvest Moon fans out there? I just started playing Animal Parade (the latest installment in the series) and I'm enjoying it, however between that and minecraft I struggle even knowing what day/time it is.

Anyways, I know Harvest Moon is a bit girly but I've been playing since the SNES version. And hey, with all the people playing minecraft maybe Harvest Moon isn't that bad on my manhood. Hell, I could be playing the HighSchool drama girl game *cough* masa *cough*

Well if there are other Harvest Moon fans out there we can chat it up here.

Oh, my older brothers were die hard N64 Harvest Moon fans. One of my brothers hooked up our old N64 two years ago and started playing it again in-fact.
The only one I ever got into (Only one I ever played really) was Magic Melody. Lost interest in it, then a year later wanted to play it again, but sadly I lost my memory card and had to start over. Lost interest again after I married Dia.

I've heard most of the later Harvest Moons have been pretty bad (Less farming, more random animals) so I haven't looked at any of the more recent titles.

I've played SNES, first gameboy one, N64 and Playstation at the same time. Then I didn't play any until Tree of Tranquility on the Wii and Animal Farm on the Wii. There are a 10 titles in total NOT counting spinoffs. I think most of these are on handhelds.

I have the SNES version and loved it. I own the one for Gamecube but we never played it.

While I was selling a bunch of old games and systems I found out that the original SNES version is worth something like $75.

For starters, I'll happily admit ive played some odd games. Secondly, Dangerous High School Girls is Trouble is actually less about girls than about interesting 1920s style art, music, and storyline in the form of an interesting board game style RPG. Never judge a book by it's cover. :)

I've played the SNES one as well as one of the GBA ones. I'm also a great fan of the series, though I haven't played any of the recent ones. Both of those were great fun, but I'm a purist in the fact I like the SNES one best.
I am the 1%!

I have... I think it's called 'Island of Happiness' for the DS. I havent gotten very far becasue I don't play my DS often, but it is pretty funtimes. I would play it a lot more if it was a PC game, I think. heh.

Let's check the weather for tomorrow.

'Hurricane'

And there goes my greenhouse. . ."

True story. My brother had all the luck.

Agreed. I've only played the SNES and GB versions, but the GB version seemed to lack some of the charm that its 16-bit cousin had. I might have to look into the newer incarnations.

The game has evolved quite a bit from the original SNES. I gotta admit there are some stuff from the early ones that are gone, but so many more features that have come and go throughout all the new titles. Honestly, I think players should just look into a few and see what features they like and don't like and play that.

One of my most missed features is the farm layout. In the early ones you would make chicken pens and have your pup protect them from wolves. You could move barn around and what not.

In the new one you don't have fences or moveable rocks. However, in the two Wii versions you have this very useful bell to call your animals in/out of the barn.

I was always one who would like to keep animals outside so I love this feature.

Another thing evolved is character growth and story. The early ones had a very simple storyline and little character evolution. As the game evolved the story and characters got better. However, to me, they let the story limit the game. Now in animal farm it feels really great balanced between gameplay and story.
