Oh wow everyone I remember is showing up. Remember me guys? I was Reaper_Man back in the day.

I am setting up a private 16 person server, I'll post the infos when it's up. Anyone here is more than welcome to play.

I am hosting the installer locally on my site, go ahead and download it from here:
http://www.msleeper.com/files/ns_install_v32.exe
Thanks for the installer.

I'm having a few problems with it though. First, when I try to install, it tells me that it can't find a valid installation of Steam (which is not the case) and asks me if I want to proceed. When I click to proceed it displays the path that the files will be installed to as blank.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks again.

Ah ha! The instructions you've kindly provided don't apply to me since I don't own Half Life. I have it pre-loaded as a consequence of buying DoD but I don't have the actual game itself. Well then, thanks for trying to help and have fun!

Doh! Pick it up on Steam, it's only $9 and it's a fun game. Plus then you can play NS. ;)

Yeah I'm also looking forward to this game. I was a beta tester (aka 'playtesters' in NS, we had the skulk icons by our names) for the original NS early versions, back through pre-release and through version 1, 2 and 3. I think what people need to remember is that this game was written within the confines of the ORIGINAL Half-Life engine. (the HL engine was ten years old LAST year.) So I think they were able to do quite a bit when you consider what they had to work with.

Although I am not 100% sure, I'm pretty certain that they are building their own engine from scratch to run the game instead of trying to make someone else's engine work for what they want to do. It makes sense, they can't use the Source engine since the lack of ladders (in the Source games I have seen) and the issues with wall walking would likely mean compromises and problems.

I popped open the game and it seems there are still servers out there.
