Dont go to Frye's... I saw my same video card there for 350, when I paid 225 online from new egg.

Funny little story......
My work uses PC Club, I know more about PCs than those guys (well, they have 1 guy that knows his stuff, everyone else just sux). It's always hilarious to listen to these guys try to convince me of things "No, you want Vista..." I bought (my work bought) a laptop from these guys with Vista already installed, everything supposedly configured etc etc. Well turned it on, Windows went hay wire. out the HD was bad, and alot necessary windows components were omitted. So I brought it back, and told them what I thought was wrong. I was dead on with my trouble shooting cuz when I went to go pick it up the guy in the service dept. offered me a job!

When I go to stores in my work clothes, for some reason people assume I am an employee. I have helped customers at Staples and Office Depot more than once, and also at Fry's.

Once, strangely, someone asked me some stuff at Best Buy. Wasn't even wearing a blur OR yellow shirt..

I would basically just go in with my list and get what's on it. i don't trust those guys to make an educated decision for me!

That's where y'all come in :P

I know what you mean  i get a kick out of it every time.

As for where to buy computer stuff, you dont have MicroCenter in San Diego..... Everytime i check, their processors are cheaper than Newegg :P many of their hardware is comparable in price as well. :)

Now as for the Phenom 9850, i still havent found any legit reviews on it so i think it wont be out for another week or more. Go with the Core 2 Quad q6600, save yourself the trouble.

The q6600 is the one I got... works great and was readily available. Not to mention was a good price too - a winner!

psssst. don't tell anyone... I went to PC Club and got the stuff. Pics later.

I DO have a micro center about 25 miles away, MrBlah, but it's a hard 25 miles traffic wise.

I got an equivalent deal to NewEgg and kept the same major components (case, processor, slightly different mobo but same vid card, &c.)

My mom is visiting for the afternoon, so maybe pics later ;P

SU

EDIT/PS: Oh yeah, they DID have the Wolfdale processor

Here it is..

Compromises... 600W power supply. I felt it would be enough with one video card.. I got a slightly lesser brand on the memory... I THINK this is a better mobo... Now I need to put it together!

It looks nice there SU, I am soo good at gettin ppl to get that armor case, thats 3 and counting :D its sweet i tell ya.

The RAM is OCZ, its still good, i have 4GB of OCZ, i kinda had to go with it, i didnt buy it. I prefer corsair like others would prefer Crucial or whatever.
As for the Mobo, its just fine.

psst! take a closer picture of the cpu, i wanna know what u got.

Man, these are tiny compared to the old sk00l ones...

Oh, and Buzzy, man this thing is huge. The thing is, I spent some time in the store, and the other cases there were nowhere close to this one as far as cooling and so forth. I will probably never use all of the space in this thing, but it's needed for cooling and airflow and stuff, as far as I can tell.
