I am getting Crysis this weekend, and figured to get me in the mood I would fire up Far Cry - wow - now with a machine that can run the game all maxed out (I haven't touched the game since 2004) I can't believe it.
The game was way ahead of it's time.
I am going to play through it a couple times!

well Batman.... you will see the exact same thing with Crysis... no desktop computer can play it with maxed out settings.

HL2 is better than far cry. Far Cry is still a good game though. I'll give it props for coming out before HL2 and Doom3 and still having awesome graphics. While all the hype was on those two games Far Cry came out and was a nice surprise.

Far Cry was good... but it was so annoyingly BUGGY! i fired it up here recently now that i have a machine that can run it at max settings, updated it, and amazingly it still has several of its initial launch bugs, mostly audio-oriented bugs such as me firing my pistol but neither hearing it fire nor seeing its muzzle flash until a second later, and in the beginning when i first step out onto the island out of the training area, the audio just goes haywire and i get a highpitched squealing. yeah, they say you have to turn your sound quality down in order to fix these things, but you'd think 4 years after it came out they'd have released a fix in a patch that takes care of it so you dont HAVE to turn your sound quality down to fix THEIR problem. so yeah... HL&HL2 > Far Cry. and not cuz of its bugs, also much MUCH better and engaging storyline IMO
