A Sobering Statistic

Post by TheCarpe » Fri Feb 08, 2008 6:17 pm

I am a big fan of useless knowledge, and when possible, I try to discover said knowledge whenever possible. Thus why I love looking at my stats, but could care less about my rank :D

So tonight I got a thought in my head. A quick check to Gmail confirms I bought The Orange Box on September 28, 2007. Skip on over to my Xfire profile, which has logged my playtime since nearly day one, and it reads 313 hours of TF2 played.

So, I get to the numbers. I have had the game 134 days, and played it for 313 hours. Breaking the days down into hours, I see that 3216 hours have passed since buying The Orange Box. One last calculation to complete...

...whoa.

In summary, of all the time that has passed since my purchasing The Orange Box, I have spent a little over 10% of my time playing Team Fortress 2.

I think I need to get out more... :P

So you spend about 2.5 hours a day entertaining yourself. How many people watch 4 to 5 hours of TV a day ?

It's all entertainment. It's one of the best parts of life. I love how all these news shows / news casts have stories on how people are "addicted" to the internet because they spend 4 or 5 hours a day on it but if people watched TV 4 or 5 hours a day ( like most did before the internet ) they certainly wouldn't have an issue with it because it's all about money and higher ratings mean they can charge more money for commercials.

You may have misinterpreted the point of my post...

I wasn't trying to say that I have some sort of problem or that I feel bad about what I do for fun.

I just came up with something that I thought was funny and posted it here :D
