Toy_Fort round time needs tweeking

Post by EzCrash » Thu Jan 31, 2008 2:12 am

Can one of the Admins please adjust the time on Toy_Fort ?

I know the problem before was that the server would just get stuck on it.

Now however the rounds are only 6 minutes and teams only add 2 minutes when capturing the middle point.

Can we maybe up the start time from 6 minutes to something like 12 - 15 minutes ? I think the 2 min add is ok at this point.

I second this. While playing on Toy Fort last night it seemed like the rounds ended too quickly.

On another note, Sudden Death wasn't happening when time did run out. Is it turned off by accident or something?

I think Toy Fort could be a fantastic map, but I think there is something wrong with the final cap point on both side. Or maybe it's because the respawn time are too short, and do not fit the developer intentions.

Are you talking about the old Toy Fort? The one with five capture points? The new one removed the two right next to the spawn point, so now there's only three points.

No I'm talking about the new one with three cap points. Each time I played this map it was a battle at middle point. I never saw this map won because once you kill everyone in the middle, you can't even reach the last cap point without everyone respawned back. This is a small map, I beleive respawn times should be longer

We were just discussing the same exact things on the TF2mappers forums....

I think the author is trying to find a happy medium. Its really hard without lots of hours of playtesting. I guess these are growing pains.

Given the linear size, it's just too hard to hold out vs the opposing team when they spawn nearby. Even if you can keep a couple of teleports up (which is usually impossible most times) it's still never enough. I've been trying to think of other maps that are similar, but all that comes to mind is Well and Granary, which both use rotating spawn points.

It's still a fun map, I hope the author continues to work on it.
