Well my Q6600 2.4 is running at a nice stable 2.93ghz right now. :P

No one had Vista 64bit in town, so went with the 32bit version. Too bad it only sees about 3.2gb of my 4gb ram. Might get the upgrade disk from them, just not sure though if its worth it. The motherboard does support up to 8gb though, so it might be worth it. Thats unless Vista 32bit SP1 fixes the ram cap.
A new service park of windows wont fix the memory cap. 32-bit is the limitation. The same goes for windows XP 32-bit.

Yeah... Microsfot says it should recognize 4GB of RAM but because of only updating the operating system and not making smart rewrites, its only 3.2GB. When i was running 64-bit Vista, it did see all my RAM though, al 4GB of it. Some things to it were a bit unstable though.... but then agian, its Windows, what'd you expect?

and for roughly $1800, i can build a better machine than that, better PSU, better sound card, and ionstead of only 1.5 dvd burners, i get 2 dvd burners. and for only $15 more, i can get 4GB of RAM instead of 3GB, and for about $40 more, i would get the bigger Thermaltake Armor instead of the Jr case. And yes i did include all of those little gizmos and gadgets it has on the front too.

I agree, but that price isn't bad for the person that doesn't want to build their own PC or doesn't know how to. Turn key with a warrenty is worth a few bucks also. (along with a 90 day money back policy)
IMO, building a PC is easier than putting together a 100 piece jigsaw puzzle, but the stakes are a bit higher if you royally screw up.

ps: thermal interface material/grease should NOT go between the cpu and the socket. It goes betweent he cpu and the heatsink.

OMG, now you tell me. rof

Anyways, I got it to 3.4ghz but it was unstable there, but it does 3.32 with no problems. Went back to 3.02 at just a tad over factory spec voltage. Not too shabby. :)

Blown, itsa this:
Well I am doing a over haul on my rig after christmas when I get some money. It will be including a good housing for future upgrades and watercooling so I can squeeze as much as I can out of my hardware.

These are my plans:

D-TEK Customs Fuzion CPU Water Block S478/LGA775/S939/AM2/S754 1/2IN Barbs

Swiftech MCP655-B 12V Industrial Water Cooling Pump *Without Speed Adjustment* 1/2" Barbs

Masterkleer Pvc Tubing 7/16IN ID 5/9IN OD 10 Feet

Danger Den G1/4 to 1/2IN High Flow Barb Chrome Fittings (2 Pack) (a bunch of these)

nGear 120MM Chromed WIRE-FORMED Fan Grill ( a bunch of these)

Swiftech MCR320 Quiet Power Water Cooling Radiator Black G1/4 Threaded

Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R ATX LGA775 Conroe P35 DDR2 1PCI-E16 3PCI-E1 SATA RAID Sound GBLAN Motherboard (need a new mobo so I have support for intels new procs)

Silverstone Temjin TJ04-BW Black ATX Case 4X5.25 2X3.5 4X3.5INT No PS W/ Window

Logisys CLK12GN2 12 inches Dual UV Cold Cathode Kit Dia 3.0MM 300MM 28,000 CD/M2

Swiftech Hydrx Water Additive Coolant 2 oz Bottle

Scythe Ultra Kaze 120MM High Static Pressure Silent Fan 38MM 2000RPM 87.6CFM 32.9DBA (3 of these for the rad, They are the huge ones)

Silverstone FP33-B Black Aluminum 3.5 Drive Bay 3 Port Fan Controller ( to control the huge fans on the rad, So I can turn the fans down when I go to bed :P)

Round Single IDE Device Cables 10" - Silver Braided UV Reactive Blue Round Single IDE Device Cables 10" - Silver Braided UV Reactive Blue

Swiftech MCW30 Chipset Water-block Swiftech MCW30 Chipset Water-block

Serial ATA II Data Cable with latching mechanism 60cm (24") - Straight to Right Angle - UV Blue Serial ATA II Data Cable with latching mechanism 60cm (24") - Straight to Right Angle - UV Blue (lots of these)

Deluxe Wire Sleeving Kit - UV Blue (to get a little glow going on)

Tanky - Single 5 1/4" Bay Reservoir - UV Green

*** NEW *** Koolance Waterblock VID-278 (GeForce 8800GT) [no nozzles]

Dual Head ATX & Auxiliary Molex Removal Tool (to sleeve the psu)

This is how I plan on setting it up

Image

Any suggestions on how to make this better without spending much more would be appreciated, also if you could comment on how my water loop would work that'd be great.

My hardware that I allready have

8800GT

Core 2 Duo E6300, Hold me over till I get money to get a new quad

2x 250gb sata's

DVDRW

550W psu

4GB memory
or just go back to page 1 to see :P

Mine is quite simple though, simply the tank feeds directly into the pump(no tubing, direct input.connect) and then it runs to the water block on my CPU, CPU to Radiator in the front of my PC(2x 120mm fans cool it) and then back into the reservoir)
the internal radiator takes up enough space, height wise, for 6x 5 1/4" drive bays. I can fit extra HDD behind it though.

One other thing too though, one big thing I like about the Thermaltake Armor Case, or atleast my Armor LCS is that on the back panel there are 4 holes that I can fit tubing in for further construction of a more elaborate system and whatnot, ya know if i want to watercool my 8800 Ultras or my RAM too (I have the OCZ FlexXLC, optional water cooling available) So yeah, there is a lot of stuff i can do if i want to... more so if i have the money for it

ah ok. Ya my case has two holes in the back for a cooling system if I wanted, or just mount inside, but I dunno. Pretty happy with the way its running now. :) I'd guess it would do 3.6 24/7 with water though. Kinda tempting. heh

Once the new chips come down in price I'm going to one of those anyways.

Yeah man I'll be getting one of those for sure when they come down in price. People are getting 4GHZ no problem on air, with somthing like 1.35. I can only imagine one on liquid.

Thats why I will be running a E2180, one of the cheapest dual cores, It will just be a stand by until the 45nm's come down in price. A plus about the E2180 is that people have goten insane overclocks with it... and it's a budget chip. :P
