New OS
Heya guys and gals, I just got XP Pro and I am about to install it on my box. I currently have w2k on my SATA drive and I'd like to minimize the amount of backup and exporting of files. DO any of you know a way to do this without having to sort through all the files, export email addies and so forth? I was hoping to just backup the entire system on a new drive and be able to boot from that to access what I need as I get XP up and running...
any thoughts are much appreciated!

Re: New OS
well silver sez that norton ghost is the only way he knows, but that is for XP not w2k...
I hate just dumping everything on a reformat, but I guess I better get started on backing up
the stuff i want to keep so I can play tonight...

Re: New OS
well i am formatting my SATA drive and about to install XP. *fingers crossed
i hope it goes smooth!
I used the Western Digital software utility and copied my system partition to my new
IDE drive. that way I can browse back through for anything I might have missed or
will need after the new OS is installed.

This prolly not the best way but,
I have external HD I use for this kind of stuff. I just copy paste all the important files and let it work on it over night . As long as I have kept all my files organized, its pretty easy.
your email and web browser programs should have an export function to transfer all your emails and favorites etc.
lol formatting used be my answer to everything

Re: New OS
SP2 came with the software already and I have done all the high priority software updates. Everything is
running like a top. Its nice to have my machine take about 10 seconds to boot up as opposed to W2k taking 2
minutes. I haven't really tested the 3d video in game as I had to download everything last night. I had a chance
to get on TV2 for a few minutes and encountered some strange stuff. While playing, I noticed all of the weapons
where sliding across the ground and there seemed to be no players... Just tommy guns sliding and spinning
around, and every other weapon in the game cruising about like little animals. When I was killed(and went to
spec mode), suddenly all the player's bodies were flopping around like ragdolls. I am not sure if this was
some kind of flashback from the ole college daze, or if there really was a problem with my graphics. I haven't
been back on to see if its still happening or not, but will see soon enough...
