Very Interesting! I do see one thing in there that may keep it from being good for us, but hopefully it's not as bad as I think -

"Online Matchmaking"

This is the death knell of community-based servers. The obsession with "matchmaking" and "elo" and "rank" that dominates the current FPS market horribly undercuts any server community that just wants to play casually together and have fun. Matchmaking is the opposite of what we've always stood for. This is a huge bummer, because this looks like it really is trying to pick up the DoD hat and run with it!

I'll grab a beta key and see what it's like! Hopefully there is a bit more flexibility than I'm afraid of above, and we can put it to good use, because dang... I want us to have a community FPS again!

don't really like double posting but damn, this game brings back all the feels, seems more like Source but I'll take it. There was a "servers" page but idk if you can rent them or just create them yourself, game isn't live obviously so there are none, can just join whatever games are in progress atm.

My turn to double post!

Just finished a couple hours of playing it, and I enjoyed myself pretty thoroughly. It feels very much like DoD:S with upgraded graphics. Still some balance tweaks that need doing and a couple minor other bits, but it was fully stable, I didn't experience any bugs affecting gameplay, and it seems pretty straightforward. If they show support for community servers and don't bury them under too much other stuff, I could see this being a good option for us to try out.

Anybody who misses DoD should definitely give it a try and chime in.

From the FAQ:
Can I host my own server?
Yes you can! We have partnered with Host Havoc to allow people to rent servers of their own.
We also have a dedicated server application which will be available at launch for anyone who wants to host a server of their own - currently this is only for Windows, but we're working on a Linux option!

Being able to host our own server would definitely be high on the list of things we're looked for, yup! Gonna keep playing it this weekend and the next beta weekend in December to see how it's going.

A team that works together to capture objectives can move very fast in this game, while a team that focuses on just fighting and KDR gets roflstomped every time. I have no problem with this!

I played it for a few minutes. It looks promising. I think it feels more like DoD than DoD:S did. :D
