A17 experimental public patch notes

Post by Boss Llama » Sat Nov 17, 2018 10:38 am

Hey all! The "early public experimental release" for upcoming A17 is expected this Monday. I'm not sure if we want to update for this or not, since it is likely to be buggy and followed by several more patches, but it is a massive overhaul of almost the entire game. It looks like some aspects are taking on more of an RPG component, with attributes and skill trees based upon them, but also a bunch of new vehicles, new loot, a heap of new points of interest, a new health and stamina system, and a bunch of other notes. This is a pretty massive set of changes.

I was going to put the patch notes here, but it's actually 27 pages of notes, and longer than is allowed in a post. As such, here's the link: PATCH NOTES!

It's definitely worth reading through at least the main gameplay changes, since it's going to totally overhaul how we play. Lots of fun stuff in there.

Wow, that looks like a huge update and like it will really change the gameplay.

Do we have any idea how it'll work on the server side within the A17 bug fixes and patches? Meaning will we have to reset the map every time they push any little update, or will it be stable for all of the A17 development timeline?

I'm looking forward to this. Now that I got some practice under my belt.

Im willing to take the risk personally, most of us have done everything you can do in A16.

but as flash said will you have to wipe server after every small update to A17?

I'm willing to take the risk. That's the whole point of early access games; test, test, test.

I mean, I have no problem with us updating if others don't. It may cause some serious glitchiness, or it may work beautifully - I've honestly no idea!

Stevo - thoughts? Anybody else - thoughts?

it seems you won't need to wipe the random-gen world (which we use) every update if it's just bug fixes

So here is the official release post: https://7daystodie.com/forums/showthrea ... !&p=871926

Something interesting to note:
"We don’t want incompatibility bugs with previous builds so please remember to start a new game with each experimental update."

I think you should go for it. I've been playing with the A17 on another server all day and everyone has been great but I already miss TheVille crowd.

Seems like there is indeed a lot of support for this, even if it means frequent resets during the experimental phase.

I'll see if I can get the ball rolling on this!

In order to connect to the new a17 experimental build, don't forget to update your client! Here's the procedure:

Open your steam client.
1. Click on Games/View Games Library
2. Right click ‘7 Days to Die’ and select properties
3. From the new popup dialogue box select the ‘BETAS’ Tab
4. Under ‘Select the beta you would like to opt into’ latest_experimental
