Re: Feed The Beast has returned!
I was wondering if someone could tell me how to install FTB. Its been so long since I've played MC, let alone mod it. The files look completely different now.
Edit: Nevermind I found the download for the launcher

Hey Uber!, welcome back to the fold!
Two extra steps in addition to the launcher you'll want to set so you can play with us:
1) For the version drop down on the launcher front page, change from "Recommended" to "2.2.2"
2) Under the Edit Mod Pack option on the launcher, you'll want to enable Chicken Chunks, as seen in this gif

Airspeed of a Cow?
Perhaps someone will know about this mystery. On a local FTB 2.2.2 Infinity Evolved map (seed: 6056518889485891019) at about x=-22, y=65, z=81, there is a strange wind vortex / tornado thing going on. It will suck you in, slam you down and kill you. Likewise with any mobs in the area. In the screenshot below the cow has been sucked in, lifting up and getting ready to die. What is this?

What you're dealing with looks to be a Thaumcraft "hungry node." I believe they are disabled by default on multiplayer servers, due to massive complaints against them when they were introduced (basically a random death sentence from something you can neither see nor avoid until late game), but still exist on SP. Thaumcraft doesn't play nice with... pretty much anything or anybody.
Here's a YouTube link of what it looks like to get dragged in to one. If that's what you're dealing with, it's a Hungry Node.

It's been fun but I've finished my work on this map. I've left some odds & ends at spawn you can pick through. Thanks!

This game does seem to have a very quick zero to complete speed! Sorry to lose you, Inner. Just out of curiosity, did you get bored with the mods you found enjoyable, or something else? Always on the lookout.
At any rate, I was thinking of having this server be on a pretty fast reset cycle - like 3 months or so - due to how incredibly quickly we all move. It's been one month currently, so we still have a couple months to go on that obviously, but I'm happy to hear thoughts on that as well.

Be careful about doing it too fast! Doing the same thing over and over can also get boring, so if we reset too frequently we can have fewer people come back as a result.Boss Llama wrote:At any rate, I was thinking of having this server be on a pretty fast reset cycle - like 3 months or so - due to how incredibly quickly we all move. Also, we have to consider the implications on Vanilla. FTB and Vanilla can work together to build a bigger total player base, but if they reset too quickly they will end up competing for the same players instead.
