tf2lobby.com
Re: tf2lobby.com
Well here's a thread I wasn't expecting here.
I tried tf2lobby a while ago and had the same highs and lows. You seem either get bad teammates or stomp the other team. I've gotten only a few really back and forth games (which were worth suffering through the crappy games) which I crave in good competitive games. A good even 6v6 match is among my favorite experiences (#1 is probably participating in the first 6v9 comp vs pub match), unfortunately it's also extremely rare.
Highlanders are typically more relaxed and have more guaranteed fun. They can be close and competitive but you rarely get into the "all of my teammates and me have to give it our all in order to try to win" awesome moments.
Really in general it's just best to play with players close to your skill level in highlander and 6v6 and that's why tf2lobby falls flat often, you get too much of a mix of skill levels. I've had a lot more fun in the casual scrims I've been invited to.

Re: tf2lobby.com
This is true, however the skill disparity between players is felt much less during highlander than 6v6, if you want to try an organized game on tf2lobby I'd recommend starting with highlander, 6v6 requires far more coordination to compete and is less forgiving of newer players, it's also a hell of a lot more fun once you finally do find an evenly matched team to play with.Guardian wrote: Really in general it's just best to play with players close to your skill level in highlander and 6v6 and that's why tf2lobby falls flat often, you get too much of a mix of skill levels. I'm definitely up for lobbying with you guys once this semester is over. I've played a lot of games on that site already and would love to get back into it.MateoTheBold! wrote:I would be interested in some TF2 lobby, provided we could field a team of villuns/friends of villuns. The only stipulation is that anybody in a guild just needs to remove their tags while doing so.

Re: tf2lobby.com
I've always had the same experience. It seems like approximately one out of every 10 or so matches will actually be a "good match" (players know what they're doing, skill levels are even, etc.). Other than that, most of the matches are usually lopsided or filled with people who aren't playing seriously at all. I've always had much more fun in PUGs with people on my friends list.Guardian wrote:Well here's a thread I wasn't expecting here.

Re: tf2lobby.com
That actually might be a good idea. Throwing people into lobbies and not explaining competitive TF2 to them will only hurt. If we can get a full team or set up a private lobby, at least people will have a chance to learn. If I can get my mic working again I'd love to help some of you guys out with understanding the competitive part of the game.
