City of Heroes New character poll
Ok lets post up what type of character you want to play and also take the poll if you could.
Heros can play as Villains and vise versa. It's just up to you guys if you want to play Hero content or Villain content.
Post what days would work for you also. Then will post up a poll later on what day works best.

I stopped at like lvl 30 Villain so never got to finish the content. I also think Villuns playing Villain would be a nice touch

I've never played before but am interested. Either content works for me but I also support villuns playing villains.

I'm in the same boat. Never played City of Heroes. but this is intriguing to me. Also villains, cause they always get the best lines.Ignatius wrote:I've never played before but am interested. Either content works for me but I also support villuns playing villains.

Well get on TS with Betteh or I and we can show you the ropes. It's pretty simple once you get the general idea. I might be on later tonight. Like 11cst ish and I'm busy most of the weekend.
CoH revolves more around the character creation and the combat system. It's much simpler than WoW and a ton of fun. This video is old but it will give you the general idea.

Re: City of Heroes New character poll
I kinda default toward villainy, but my experience notes that heroes have far more content, particurally because they have something like 15 zones compared to villain's 8.
I'll join in on this mess, name a server and a time. This guy has your blaster needs covered. Perhaps an Ice Blast/Dark Maniuplation. Dark manipulation is relativly new so i'd like to see what it can do.
For newcomers, here's a class breakdown. You can play any class on any alignment, but these are how I know them. Hero Archetypes (ATs) are more specialized and basic, while Villain are a little generalist. To make sure it's clear, both Controller and Dominator, and the epic archetypes require payment to play as.
The Hero ATs
Blaster: Powerful ranged damage, minor control and moderate melee damage, low defense
Controller: Pure crowd control, buff/debuff support, low damage and defense. You have to pay to play Controller
Defender: Powerful buff/debuff support, moderate range damage, low defense
Scrapper: High melee damage, moderate defenses, no range
Tanker: High defense, hate control, moderate melee damage
The Villain ATs
Brute: Gradually building melee damage (prolonged combat increases damage), Moderate defenses
Stalker: Stealth tactics (sneak attacks, assassainations), Moderate melee damage and defense
Mastermind: Pet summoning, Moderate buff support, low range damage and defense
Dominator: Strong crowd control, which builds and intensifies at maximum strength, moderate damage both range and melee, low defense. Must pay to play Dominator
Corrupter: High Range damage, moderate buff support, finishes off wounded foes. Low melee damage and defense
Epic Archetypes
Peacebringer: Generalist class, capable of moderate range damage, melee damage, moderate control, and minor buff. Capable of shapeshifting into a ranged damage form or a tanker form. Vunerable to special enemies that spawn whenever a Peacebringer or Warshade are part of the group. Deals energy damage with evasion debuff as a secondary effect
Warshade: Generalist class, capable of moderate range damage, melee damage, moderate control, and minor buff. Capable of shapeshifting into a ranged damage form or a tanker form. Vunerable to special enemies that spawn whenever a Peacebringer or Warshade are part of the group. Deals negative damage with movement speed and recharge debuffs.
Arachnos Soldier: Damage class of sorts. Until level 24, dishes out moderate lethal damage at range and supports team with buff auras that benefit damage, defense, and accuracy. At level 24, the character can either go Crab Spider, which specializes in ranged damage and pets, or Bane Spider, which focuses on Melee damage and Stealth.
Arachnos Widow: Another damage class. Prior to 24, widows deal moderate lethal and toxic damage in close quarters and supports team with buff auras. At level 24, the character can either become a Fortuna, which provides high psionic damage at range with supporting buff abilities, or Night Widow, which focuses on melee damage and stealth tactics.

This is hard to be cool and suave while being informative at the same time. Goddamn my coolness.

Re: City of Heroes New character poll
I pretty much lean towards controllers or dominators. I can probably play Mastermind if someone really wants one. Corrupter is also ok, but I still prefer Controller or Dominator.
Controller > Dominator > Corrupter = Scrapper/Brute > Mastermind for me.
Controller > Dominator > Corrupter = Scrapper/Brute > Mastermind for me.

Looking at the class summaries, I'd probably go either Blaster or Mastermind.

What exactly are these epic archetypes, because if I got to say I was a crab spider that's hilarious.
Edit: whoops just saw that was one of the flowers you had to party for, too bad.

It used to mean you had to have a 50 on that side to access them. Now you don't. They are no more/less powerful than any other AT.
I would prefer to play heroes just cause they have far more content and their story lines are really quite cool, but I will play wherever.

Epic archetypes are unlocked for VIP players at level 20 (otherwise, it's 10 dollars each), they're unique classes with special storylines built for seasoned players, as they often incorperate traits from the other classes. They cannot change allignment until level 20 however, unlike the main ATs which can choose from the start. Peacebringers and Warshades must roll hero, while Arachnos Soldiers and Widows must roll villain. You are also locked in your origin, meaning that you must you specific enhancements. Peacebringers and Arachnos are considered Natural, while Warshades are created through Science. In addition, these ATs cannot start in the alternate Going Rogue region and cannot access the main tutorial (you should know how to play by the time you access them anyway).Ignatius wrote:What exactly are these epic archetypes, because if I got to say I was a crab spider that's hilarious.
Background purposes, they relate to the game's storyline in some way. Peacebringers and Warshades are collectivly known as Kheldians, an alien race who are being oppressed by The Nictus. With assistance from the Void Hunters and The Council, the Nictus seek to wipe out the Kheldian race, and then plan to invade Earth afterwards, or something. Some Peacebringers have escaped the Nictus' clutches and have found willing human hosts to merge with and give them a fighting chance. Other Nicti have forsaken their evil ways and have also joined with willing human hosts in an effort to rebel; these are the Warshades.
Arachnos is a major villain force in the City of Heroes world, the primary evil group prior to the Praetorian invasion that has emerged from version update 18. Soldiers and Widows are two subclasses of troops within the Arachnos system. Soldiers are often the grunts, armed with basic machine gun rifles and poisoned mace-weaponry, while Widows are often employed as trained assassains and psychics. Upon reaching level 24, you have the option to branch out beyond your basic training. Soldiers begin as "Wolf Spiders", the grunts, and can train to become "Crab Spiders", which are compared to SWAT forces in game, or "Bane Spiders" who are seen as merciless killers, executioners as some call them. "Blood Widows" can become "Fortunas", which are high-end psychic soldiers capable of reading minds and overloading them, while "Night Widows" continue the assassain training and become even more deadly than their Blood Widow subordinates. As if it wasn't obvious, Arachnos ranks are named after various spiders.

This is hard to be cool and suave while being informative at the same time. Goddamn my coolness.

Well if we are bringing in some new faces it would probably be a little easier to get them settled in. The Hero side when I was playing did feel a little more polished and easier to navigate.frostdillicus wrote:It used to mean you had to have a 50 on that side to access them. Now you don't.
