you realize that it will still effectively be a Bethesda game as they are using the same crummy engine and all. That aside though Bethesda games have always been great for wasting some time exploring. I have a copy pre ordered and have pre instaled so we shall see how it turns out.

i hate how it uses the same engine, and how they made NCR to be some bad thing. also the brotherhood doesnt seem to be making a big point in this game as they have in the rest. my favorites are the brotherhood, need moar!

Very excited for New Vegas. I haven't yet had the chance to try out all of the original DLC, but I picked up the GOTY edition during the special on Steam, so I'll have to run through that to get ready!

So, any early reviews from the Villuns of the wasteland?

Yeah so far its more of the same pathetic engine and that was expected. they have added a lot of extra things such as ammo types and weapon mods. there is a lot more enemy and weapon variety. Its more complicated overall. its buggy at current one medic just lost most of his save data. This one punishes exploration away from the beaten path with sudden and certain death at least early in the game. Character creation is more like old fallout witch i kind of liked.

Bottom line if you liked fallout 3 this will work well for you. Its pretty fun but often frustrating. i myself used to play through Bethesda games by wandering around and just enjoying the world but in this one you just die if you do so i am pretty disappointed there. :(

Any questions about the game feel free to ask.

Yeah, I wish I had known that before I bought it. I still have hope that it's just for the beginning and that after a couple hours you're free to go wherever you please, but that makes me sad. I'm in the same boat - I love just journeying around and getting into all kinds of trouble, ransacking houses I see... this time I start to wander off and OH LOOK A DEATHCLAW *die*

They've patched it so I guess I can play some more now. Still...

A friend of mine just made a pretty good mod for this which, I think creates a much better balance of your character and makes the game harder to play through instead of basically just making some mobs impossible to kill. I'll see if I can him to upload it to FalloutNexus so you can try it out if you want.

Not sure where else to post this, but I have an unopened PC collectors edition sitting on my desk. I'd let this go for $70 (what I payed for it) + shipping to anyone on the ville, otherwise I'm going to put it on eBay for $90 with a buy it now of $125.
I'll keep this offer open until Saturday, Oct 30th.

I hear a lot of people saying this game punishes exploration.

These are the same people who expect to be able to walk all over the map as level 1s with only a vault jumpsuit and a 9mm pistol.
