I scratch-built my current box in September 2008, so the oldest pieces are a couple parts I mail-ordered in late August 2008.

On my back-up desktop, I've kept the 3.5 drive and a couple cables from the original computer acquired in August 2000, when I headed off to college.

What? Why?

I certainly hope it's not still attached to a sprinker system.
I honestly don't know. All of my stuff is recent, for ym dad doesn't like to build systems with things that are older than 3-4 years.
But i think the "oldest" part in my machine is the mobo.

In my DAD's machine, probably his DVD drive, if you don't count the floppy drive he used to put in before the reason that Clay Pidgeon described came up.
But if it weren't hardware, the oldest part of his computer would be the case itself. It's a near 10 year old server case, typical beige plastic and all. xD
Word. I think its funny how he still has that thing...but everything on the inside is new except the DVD player or whatever. It proves useful though since it's a two tier.

My desktop at home has the same CRT monitor from the DOS days... It's held up well over the years

Microsoft Trackball Explorer.

Bought in 1999 for about $35, this discontinued input device is so highly regarded that new-ish ones are now $450. I have two, it took me years of begging to get the second one I bought for a friends years ago, back in my possession. This is serious business. Without this input device I am no better than a first day gamer, it's the ONLY input device I can use to play games well (or do pretty much anything else.)

Wow, I have a few friends who worship those. I could never use them. I wonder if they're hoarding them, too, or if they have learned to make do with mice.

My boss at work rocks the oldschool trackball. I can't use it for crap, but he loves it. It keeps everybody else from trying to use his computer :-P

Probably my Sound Blaster X-Fi. Only part from my old PC that I transferred to my new one.

Dedicated sound card > onboard sound.
