Favorite Beer!
Being a Drunkard is one of my favorite pastimes. I only drink on the weekend for the most part due mostly to social expectancies that one shouldn't show up to work inebriated(or hungover for that matter). Being that it is the weekend I'm currently enjoying a cold smooth Stella Artois. Although I do like this Belgian lager I'd have to say that my overall favorite beer of all-time is Oberon Ale brewed by Bell's brewing company(of Kalamazoo, MI) because it's a great representation of the summer but in bottled form. It's an amazingly smooth unfiltered wheat ale with exceptional citrus-y undertones. I'm sure I'm not the only villun that considers themselves a connoisseur of the malted barley and hops(although I'm also a big fan of whiskey that's a subject for another post). So my question to you, villuns of age is: What's your favorite beer and why?

I'll have to try both. Coffee and beer mixed seems sacrilegious the same way I don't like to use fruit juices mostly used as breakfast beverages with liquor as that ruins my chance at recovery from a hangover(ie Gin and Tonic is except-able but nothing should ever be mixed with orange juice for this reason). Currently I'm more of a fan of Beamish over Guiness as far as carbombs go(I also like it better for drinkability over Guiness too).

Re: Favorite Beer!
I'm a big fan of stouts and porters. They are just so great to drink and cook with.
Favorite on tap: MacTarnahan's Blackwatch Haven't had it in a while, but it is always my order when I go to the Pyramid Brewery restaurant. It is made in house and goes awesome with all their food.
Bottle: Black Butte Porter This has a nice hint of coffee.
Anchor Porter from Anchor Brewery, located in San Francisco. I've only had one bottle of this stuff, so dark it blocks out the sun, thicker than milk, this stuff forces you to nurse it and you are thankful for it because of the tastyness.
For non dark stuff:
Pretty much anything from Anchor Brewery (gotta have SF pride, that and it's just too tasty).
Keyes, I'll look for pipeline, I've had all of Kona's other beers but I didn't even know they had a Porter.

i must also add i tasted quite a bit from pikes brew pub in seattle...and i rather like their selection...i also as i speak am enjoying black butte porter basically i will drink anything from a brew pub or micro brewery...one of the best beers ive had is matutu and thats from a small island name rarotonga (not to be confused with tonga) its a nice hoppy ale and they have a very nice lager
http://www.matutubeer.com/ourbeers.html
another um...interesting beer experience is vailima...found only on samoa...its not good...but its more a right of passage...the amount of formaldehyde in it is scary...and so is the hangover it causes

favorite beer in other countries is rather limited to the local beer...for example on my south america deployments we have Brahma and Pilsner
http://www.brahma.com/about
that and brahma has one of the best sites for beer ever
http://www.brahma.com/drumprovise
and pilsner which is liquid bread...i swear it tastes like bread..

Beer! Nothing makes life more enjoyable.
During the hot summer months, I generally take in lagers and pilsners; preferably lagers. German and Austrian across the line are the best I've had, but to say one brand is better over another is heresy. Why limit yourself to just one? Reissdorf Kolsch, Bitburger Pils, Erdinger.
Hefeweizens are my favorites out of the brews. Weissbier, Witbier, etc. Again, I can't think of one which I don't like. Weihenstephaner, Anchor Summer, Redhook -- even Sam Adams makes a decent brew for it's availability. There's so many to list.
But I could go on for hours talking about beer. Cheers!

I guess I am just a simple man. I enjoy Rolling Rock and good ole' Miller light. Fat Tire is also great when I am in the mood for a heavier beer. Not super into drinking but these are the choices for me when the occasion arrises.
