If it is a standard nvidia design with a blower blowing air over a heatsink that is covered by a shroud you likely have dust stuck under the shroud.

canned air using the little straw into the heatsink itself through the fan area. Dust is probably clogging the heatsink underneath the shroud.

If that doesnt work then remove the shroud (may require a set of jewelers screwdrivers) and then blow out the dust. Then replace the shroud.

Graphics cards DO eventually get old and die, mind you.

Clay is right in everything he said.

One other thing it might possible be, the fan on the card (if there is a fan) might simply not be functioning correctly. It could be that its simply stopped working, or that it cant spin fast enough anymore. If you feel confident in oiling it or replacing it, do so. Otherwise a new card may be in order.

when you say that it mornally runs at 65 is that what its normal load temp was or idle temp.

Also are you running the fan on auto where it changes fan speeds or do you have it set to a static speed? I use evga's little precision tool (link below/dont like riva/nhancer) to set my fans speeds to static since if i leave it at auto it gets a little too hot for my taste before the fans kick in faster.

I too use EVGA Precision, granted to download it you'll need an EVGA account (free). Make sure the fan on the card didn't become unplugged either (there's a little fan connector spot on the card, I'd check it).

hope for that lifetime warranty. Still though that is an odd issue. Does the fan still sound like it's running at a good speed? Personally to eliminate all doubt i would if possible transplant the card to another system and see if the high temps continue.

Few more questions

Also are multiple programs registering the high temps across the board?
When did you add that fan you mentioned on the first post?
Any power supply issues recently or any new devices that draw more from the PSU?

You can SLI that, although IMO I'd stick with an EVGA, XFX, or BFG product for their warranties.

what is your budget for the new card?

Also, what power supply do you have?

SLI has is useful on my system but ultimately a very big pain in the @ss. Personally i would double down and get one superior single card solution like a 285 which is about as good as dual 9800's.
