Hijacked?!

I am wondering if my Steam account has been hijacked. I played in the Ville Cup Saturday night and then tried logging in today (Tuesday) and the account name/password doesn't match. I'll be sending a ticket in to try to get it back. Just curious if anyone knows any other possibilities, or if it ever happened to anyone. And yes, I am positive I am using the correct password. Heh. I thought of that of course and tried to get my account name or password e-mailed to me and after a couple of hours waiting, no e-mails from Steam.

By the way, if you see ArtesMagae on Steam, spam him with instant messages.

This is getting very frustrating. Getting no word back from my ticket. Anyone know if a response takes a few days? I was expecting an automated "We are looking into it".

i have no idea...but could you maybe call them?? i'm just thinking that actually talking to someone might help you faster than waiting for someone to come back to you.
i don't even know if there is a number you could call, just throwing this idea out there.

I sent in a request about 18 months ago and still haven't heard from them. I rememberd I changed my PW though . Always remember to use letters and numbers as it's much harder to hack .

Yea had my account hijacked sometime in mid Jan. and just got it back yesterday. It all depends on how busy steam is processing claims.

Bringing this one back from the dead for a little update/rant:

Well its been months and months and no word from Steam. For various reasons I had little to no way to prove what games I had attached to my account. So many of them I no longer even have the discs for. That is what I get for being 12 when those games came out... But also the credit card used to purchase the couple newer games I bought had been terminated since that time and couldn't be used to verify the account. Ah, very frustrating. But so far its the ONLY problem I have encountered in the internet world. And it has made me a freak about passwords/security (not that I wasn't good on that stuff before, just crazy now, haha).

I have been using my girlfriend's account which pretty much only had DoD:S on it, but I might now finally buy my own again.

The funny thing is, if you add ArtesMagae to your friends list in Steam, you get a guy who goes by the nickname HellMind. Anyone know if this guy has been on in a while?

Anyway, does it matter if your credit card is terminated? Can't you still use the same information you used to buy it to match with their records?

Nice link! Mmm...Those passwords do look good. I have them as long as I can remember now, which is about 16 characters, but those are huge!

And as for the credit card...It wasn't my credit card, but perhaps I could get the information of that old card somehow. I'll look into that. Thanks again.

Oh yeah, Steam updated my friends list and showed that that HellMind guy hadn't been on in almost a year. That doesn't quite make sense because the account hasn't been lost that long...but atleast it means he/she isn't getting any use from it now.

Ive had my account stolen one time its took almost 2 years and ive finally got it back his name was ASDFman and hes basically bANNED EVERYWHERE

so i moved on.

Not sure what you mean about the secret question thing. I've looked into all the recover account options I could find and sadly they all end up sending an e-mail to your contact e-mail to get password reset. Well the guy changed the e-mail so that does no good!

And yes, moving on won't be TOO bad. Especially since the Valve Package is very reasonably priced if I do say so myself.
