ok well it has just started to day (friday the 4th)
i had a lan party over at my friends house yester day and today which was fun
but as sooon as i got home my computer started to act all funky like :/
this message kept poping up:
a problem has been detected and windows has shutdown to prevent damage to your computer.
a driver has over run a stack-based buffer. this is a overrun could potentially allow a malicious
user to gain control of this machine.
if this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen restart your computer. if this screen appears again, follow these steps:
check to make sure any new hardware or soft ware is properly installed. if this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need. if problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. disable BIOS memory option such as caching or shadowing. if you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart you computer, press F8 to select advanced start up options, and then select safe mode technical information:
** STOP: 0*000000F7 (0*000056C8, 0*000056C8, 0*FFFFA937, 0*00000000)
beginning dump of physical memory
physical memory dump complete.
contact your system administrator or technical support group for further assistance.
all of this is on a blue screen..
soo if any of you know why this is..
please tell me!!!
because this is really annoying

I did some quick research and couldn't find anything on
www.microsoft.com about this stop error. Your sir, have had the Blue Screen of Death. Most likely its a hardware issue. Try reinstalling or updating your drivers for your video card, sound card (if any), or anything else you haven't updated in awhile.
Maybe one of your LAN buddies was infected with a virus and shared

Is that possible through a LAN?

Hmm, I was surfing around about this error and quite a few webpages say it could be spyware/malware or even a virus and to run any virus scans you can if you can boot into safe mode. I'm trying to find a page to link, one that goes into greater detail then just people saying it's a virus.

Found 1 page that says it could be hardware and to update all your drivers, if that doesn't work, re-install your OS.
''a driver has over run a stack-based buffer. this is a overrun could potentially allow a malicious
user to gain control of this machine. ''
I was a little suspicious of this error, so I ran with this one and googled it.
Found this, not sure it's much help, I'm still looking..

This sounds very much like someone at you lan party gave you a virus of some sort. Yes, it can happen at lan parties, anytime you connect 2 computers infections can happen. If you can boot into safe mode and run a virus/malware scan you might be able to identify the culprit.
