DayZ IP updated!

Post by Boss Llama » Fri Sep 13, 2013 7:04 am

Howdy, all!

The DayZ server has been upgraded, and now has a new IP (now featuring DDoS protection):

IP: 69.39.239.147
Port: 3425

Enjoy!

You didn't do anything wrong. Same for me . It just means that the server is in a state of non-play at the moment.

Ever since they upgraded to the new equipment, the datacenter we use has been getting DDOS'd. I'm getting pretty pissed off about it, as this is several days now.

I have the option of transfering the server to Los Angeles (which would mean another IP change), which is supposed to be better protected, but that's rubbish ping for half the country. I'll give them until the weekend to sort things out, then start considering options...

Very sorry to our players. Wish there were something else I could do here :-/

if this were 2000, then maybe a change to LA would be annoying...but i think now-a-days any impact is negligible

It's hosted by DayZ.st - a dedicated DayZ hosting company.

The ping impact isn't negligible - I find my ping on our CA-based TF2 servers to be borderline unplayable - but if it's the best option not much to do about that.

This as well, also is there something in Chicago or St. Louis that would host it.

Was just asking because my server is hosted by HFB on a Chicago server. Never had a problem like that before. I must say their support department sucks though. They just sent out an email to everyone saying that they pretty much are not tech supporting DayZ servers anymore. If you have a problem, all they will do now is reinstall back to original settings. With all the new mods out it is a lot of hassle. I think i might just sit back and wait on stand alone.

My problem with DayZ is that the zombies have become moot. So many players have learned to completely ignore the zombies and it's just a PvP fest. People rush to get vehicles and gear then PvP. That's why I prefer wasteland and there are somewhat stable versions on Arma 3 which is a far better, I can't go back to their previous engine now. In wasteland you can join one of the two public teams, or go independent and make your own team. Then, you can do whatever you want. There are missions which offer good gear, choppers, vehicles, even tanks. You can just camp out and snipe or set up road blocks and ambush. There are also gun stores, some people set up bases there. Gun stores sell gear and weapons but they're random and refresh every hour. They also won't likely be as good as missions.

The difference is there is no central server and the game has to be reset at least every 12 hours as the server load gets heavy and the game because less stable. But the way I play with is I find a fresh restart and play till the reset. You can get a lot done or get nothing done. Would love to see theville get one of these servers running.

My problem with DayZ is that I always felt like I was fighting the game more than anything else. Good idea, but between bugs and ARMA just being a less than user friendly game makes it a choir to play.

I had planned on waiting for the stand-alone myself but it's taking so damn long for it to come out and I kind of want to play w/ you villuns again so let me know when this is fixed. the server still isn't appearing for me :), until then i'll be in Rome II.
