Battlefield 3 server

Our BF3 server will no longer be active as of May 25th. We gave it a try and it just isn't worth the $ we'll spend vs. the activity the server has had. I'm sure we'll give some other games a try in the near future.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank stevo for his suggestions and work on the server trying to keep it active. Would also like to thank the villuns who tried to get it populated by playing and making suggestions on how to get it populated.

Thank You!!

The whole battlefield community is pretty bad. There are hundreds of empty servers out there, the player base became pretty spread out and hurt gameplay. Console players are saying the same thing since server renting went live for them.

It's just a poorly managed game. I was really hoping it wouldn't end this fast but it practicallly killed itself so, oh well I guess.

Understandable. Was good to try something new, but if it didn't work, it didn't work.

I imagine the next game to try out will be CS:GO. Sadly, a lot of the newer games out there are using developer hosted servers and doing a lobby system instead.

Such great memories in this franchise. Was really sad to see it go down. It's like CoD, used to love that. Absolutely loved the first 3.

I haven't really played at all since the newest patch...just so much irritation in the game and so much hacking

I really hope Valve doesn't go and make CS:GO a lobby based game like L4D/2.

Sadly, I'd bet money there will at least be that option.

In theory, matchmaking is better than servers, but in practise it usually becomes stomp or be stomped.

I've yet to see a game foster communities with a matchmaking service. You basically have a choice of play with the friends you already have or give up on online play in disgust.

The logic would be that a community forms around the game at the developers site. All the current non-TF2 F2P games are evidence of that.

I followed the game up until and around release but haven't paid attention since. What caused the player base to fraction/fade away?

There were quite a few imbalance issues that needed patching and they took forever to release any patches for them. By the time the patch finally came most of us had moved on.

This. The total lack of support, first day DLC, and the fact that they tried to market it mainly for the 12-year old console kid. Also the incredible amount of hackers, and never stopping them. Pretty much the core game was ok, everything implemented around it burned and died (planned obsolescence in games makes me angry).

I could say "I told you so" But seeing how this has become a serious conversation I don't think that would really be appropriate.
