Honestly sitting on it like Flash said is probably a good idea. The only way this could hurt you is if they start recycling the items in the crate like they did with some of the strange stock weapons, but they haven't done that yet with any items from a salvaged crate (to my knowledge).

As much as our impulses may disagree, it would be wise to hold onto such a thing. Who knows...some day you could trade it for an unusual, or are all the usuals you ever wanted!!!

I have an s40 crate as well. I agree that you should wait until the series stops dropping before trading it. That's what I'm doing.

The value of the stuff inside should go up at the same rate as the crate itself. I pulled a strange machina out of a 40 that was worth 10 keys when I did it. I think it's up to 18-20 or so right now. I say open it.
