I don't think there is one - it's like the Halloween costumes from last year. The haunted ones are rarer, but there's no benefit to them other than the increased rarity.

Come to think of it, I don't actually know how one comes across haunted souls ... anyone able to lend some insight?

Speaking of which, I have a spare Haunted Executioner. I'd like to trade it for a Haunted Crone's Dome.
