Ocean Monument

Post by Boss Llama » Wed May 23, 2018 8:47 am

Howdy all. Just figured I'd report that I started the very initial phase of working on an Ocean Monument - access has been made through the top via sand caisson, and the first Elder has been slain (though the others remain). There is a nether portal, but no direct path to it - I'll work on that tonight so we all can get there easily. In the meantime, its overworld location is approximately 150, 2800 - I built the beginnings of a compound on a nearby sandbar with chests, a furnace, and a workbench.

I'll bring some logs and other items for it sometime today.

Thanks, M :-)

FYI for all - there is now a secure nether tunnel direct to the monument. Take the downward path/rail next to the doors belonging to Cari's crew.

Cool beans! I'm guessing that was you as well that put some doors for air pockets around the monument? Thanks for that - definitely made life a bit easier tonight.

All the elders have been exterminated. Found and harvested the sponge room, so we've got 35 sponges available currently. I've drained the water out of all the interior rooms, leaving just some of the big internal cavity spaces to clear out, which I'll try to do tomorrow.

I'll help drain the room today.
My trail can wait.

You rock, M! Thanks for all that work.

We've got the inside of the monument drained - time for the hole in the ocean!

Added some more to the perimeter yesterday.
But I got to hit the desert for more sand.

Crossbars every 6th meter (leaving a 5 meter gap) allows for easy sponge draining, so just doing that :-D Waaaay less sand required!

For the folks helping drain the monument area (thank you all very much!), just a reminder to make sure you leave the sponges in one of the chests when you log out. Two of them have gone missing at the moment, and every last one helps since we only had one sponge room here!

Progress is going well :-D
