Five Fish Fish Farm

The work on Five Fish is moving along quickly thanks to:

and maybe others! Thank you, thank you, thank you. We should have a grinder up this week. As a view to where we are in the progress here's a list of steps:

Find Underwater Monument, setup portal, etc. DONE
Kill the Elder Guardian Fish, collect sponges DONE
Build outside walls DONE
Dry out the temple area DONE
Dry out inside and tear down the temple DONE
Build a floor to move fish to grinder DONE
Install signs above and across the floor area to stop water from above but allow fish to pass down. DONE

One block down from the top of the outside walls, cover the temple area with netherack. DONE
Cover the netherack with water to make all source blocks of water. DONE
Mine out the netherack. The water now flows down to the signs and provides a fish spawning area. DONE
Cover the top of the temple area with a flat roof. The fish spawn better in darkness. DONE
Back on the floor, go around the perimeter and put down water in each outside block. DONE

Mine out the center 2x2 hole so the fish are falling 30 blocks onto hoppers in a contained area. DONE
Mine out grinder area. DONE
Setup sticky pistons and blocks so you can switch between XP (they don't die) and Grind (they die.) DONE

Move portal to grinder area, setup enchantment stuff, make pretty, etc. DONE
Install cart rail system from spawn nether portal area to grinder. DONE

Well, I brought 10 stacks of wood from my inventory and made about 1000 or so signs....sheesh, 3025? Looks like we need 20 more stacks of logs to get there.

Re: Stacks. This would be a great math problem for school. Needing to make 55x55 signs (3025) and each group of 3 signs requires 6 planks and 1 stick, and each block makes either 4 planks or 16 sticks, how many blocks of wood will you need?

Ya I stopped as I wasn't sure what height you wanted them at. I also moved the ladder and I drained the kill shaft with sand and then created the outer shell for it before I removed the sand. So there is a small room down to level nine below the floor, again I stopped as I wasn't sure of the level you would want. There is a ladder down now so one can inspect it.

A block of wood actually only gives you 8 sticks, since it's a 2>4 conversion rather than a 1>4. The 1>4 conversion rate that might be in mind is sticks to torches.

Need 6054 planks, being 1514 blocks with a remainder of 2 planks.

Need 1009 sticks, being 126 blocks plus one more stick, which can be made from the spare 2 planks above, leaving a remainder of 3 sticks extra.

Total needed: 1640 blocks (25 stacks + 40 blocks) which will yield what you need, plus 2 extra signs and 3 sticks remainder.

Well, the fish farm is functional, the portal has been moved so you teleport right to it. Theres a storage room below the grinder where you have to manually empty the chest while grinding it for loot, lots of room for goodies for now.

Wow, you guys work quick! Sorry that I missed out on the latter stages of work. I was going to bring a load of wood for signs, but then ended up being out all day yesterday for my birthday. I'll have to go check it out today.
