Killing the Dragon Purplecraft

Plinko and I logged on Saturday and realized that:

1) we had no idea where a fortress even was to reach the nether
2) there wasn't an activated portal to the nether
3) besides Prang who asked, there didn't seem to be a lot of interest that we saw for active players who were on who had expressed an interest in killing the dragon then and there

so we didn't attempt to kill the dragon that night. It ended up working out for the best, as the server started repeatedly crashing around 8:30 or so anyway.

Let's try to reschedule this.

I can make any night besides Tuesday work, as long as it's after 8 or 8:30.

I see six votes, but it would be good to know who is interested so we can make sure those who want to participate can do so.

Also, I am situated far from any Fortress, so I have no idea where everything is right now. Does anyone know the answers to Mateo's questions on an End portal? Or do we need to include getting that ready in the plans this week?

I changed the poll to Friday or Saturday, seeing as how that's what most people have wanted. Please choose one! (they would tentatively occur at 8pm CST (Ville Time) unless we see a bunch of posts stating a preference for a different time.

If anyone knows where any of the three fortress are (they have all been found according to Flash), what is the closest nether gate to that?

I voted for Friday. I can do either night but one of the Villuns from TV6 has been asking about playing sixes so I'd like to be able to do newbie mixes on Saturday.

I can help with any of the prep work this week as well. If anyone with some experience killing the Ender Dragon can answer the questions above or give us a few things to keep in mind that would be great. I'll have a look at the wiki but the last time I played a serious amount of minecraft was the Halloween update that added biomes.

The dragon was killed Friday, alas. When I posted on Thursday, there were more Friday votes, with Prang indicating that his Sat vote could work for Friday was well, so I figured that was a safe bet.

I have the egg, but we need to determine the best way to build something for it. I'll post in the purplecraft thread.
