Tekkit server

Just a heads up.
We're shutting down the Tekkit server for a while until we can find a new home.

The problem is that Tekkit takes 50%+ of resources on a server (which to be honest is ridiculous) when it is empty. As it fills, it gets more resource hungry. Since only two or three people play it at a time, it is not worth running it.

If you want, I can zip it up and put it on the DL server for your own enjoyment.

It is unfortunate, but I completely understand the issue. Maybe once official modding gets added to Minecraft it will help reduce the load the Tekkit puts on the servers.

I can really understand this. It seems to take the server a lot of power to send back info to my client, making me cut out a lot.

If anyone transitioning over to the "vanilla" TV5 server for the first time needs a tour or help getting started please ask. Remember that without Energy Condensers all materials are much more rare on TV5, please feel free to use items in town but do so sparingly.

I wish I had played it a bit more, I had thoughts of getting back on to work on some more projects.


I'm not sure I can go back to vanilla MC after being so used to tekkit.

While Tekkit does go a bit too far with some things (EMC/replication, the advanced magic) etc, which makes it dang near creative mode and severely reduces its interest-holding ability, it does so much right, filling in the gaps that Vanilla really needs filled in. The additional resources, electrical systems, machinery, and new shapes for blocks add hugely to the capabilities and flavor of MC, giving it the depth it needs to unleash the imagination, without making things so easy there's no point to them. For my own part, I like it because I can be more accurate in my recreations and models.
