I got mine from reddit, jeb had hinted at a larger pre release and after it was posted to reddit he just replied with a smiley face.

Were those all randomly generated? I'm very impressed by the complexity the 1.8 update is giving to world design. That cave is pretty sweet too.
This is hard to be cool and suave while being informative at the same time. Goddamn my coolness.
In my experience, common sense isn't too common.
Re: look what taco got today
My screenshots are, I found all that in about 50 meters worth of walking. The sand dungeon was a surface one, i just hopped down and opened it up (normal stuff in there) then hobbled over to the town to inspect it (pretty cool little town there was more building on the back side) and then grabbed a pumpkin in search of endermen (for the helmet). I saw a bright orange tint coming from the ground in a small hole and jumped in, its like a giant fault line / massive cave system, it was really cool. Two things that stuck out most to me in the 2 ingame days I played. The change from night to day is very dramatic, and the importance of the food bar can not be overstated. It slowly dwindles to zero and then you lose hearts depending on the difficulty setting of the server. Food has never been more important.

Re: look what taco got today
I started on a little island with one single lonely tree. After cutting it down and making a boat, I was in the middle of the ocean (draw distance max, no land in sight any direction) when I saw light down in the water. I jumped in and when i got to the bottom, almost out of breath, I found a one block hole leading into what appeared to be an abandoned mine.
There was evenly spaced framework, and mine tracks... not full ones, it was missing a lot of tracks, since it was obviously abandoned... also, cobwebs gave it a creepy feeling. This area turned out to be MASSIVE. I found two chests so far, with 4 diamonds total in them, some iron ore, and melon seeds.
I am still exploring, but these tracks are massive, and multi level. I just found a huge area that was totally open to the ocean, water pouring down below me (at this point I was already pretty far underground, after swimming to the bottom of the ocean). At the bottom was obsidian, and all around this area looking up, I could see many more frameworks all over the place above.
Edit: looking up out of the big room:

Here are the coordinates for where I am now in the big room. This isnt the entrance I originally found, but it is open all the way up to the surface, though breathing would be an issue.
X: -50
Y: 13.6
Z: 544.8

Re: look what taco got today
Got it, but haven't tried it yet as I'm at school at the moment. I'm keeping my 1.7.3 .jar file so I can update properly when the time comes, and still play the current stable version until 1.8 hits fo' realz.
For those who wonder, Notch knows, and the Mojang site is in fact hosting the .jar file for people to download. He's also seeking bug reports, of which there will evidently be many.

Re: look what taco got today
The next release of Minecraft—the so-called "Adventure" update, AKA Minecraft 1.8—is now, somewhat unexpectedly, in the wild. And its creator is perfectly fine if you go ahead and grab the leaked release.
"Ooh, looks like 1.8 has leaked, not that I'd ever admit that," writes Marcus "Notch" Persson on his Twitter account, winking coyly and offering the following reminder. "Be careful when installing software you don't trust though."
"Make sure you get it from the leaked url we are hosting," he adds. That would be this JAR file.
So, go on. Get your low polygon adventure on, but heed Persson's other decree: "If you do use it, remember to report bugs, and to feel slightly bad."
