What's up with these Pigmen?

Well, as some of you know, the pigmen can get pretty rowdy at times. Usually if you mind you're business they will keep to themselves. Though a couple days ago, me and my pal tristsladek own a island we USE FOR TOTALLY LEGIT REASONS. We decided that sooner or later, we should connect up to some kind of nether hub or what ever it is.

So, we begin our journey, laying rails and the such. When out of the blue, in TeamSpeak he yells "The Pigmen! They are behaving in a very ungentlemann like way!" They then knocked him unto the lava. He did not survive. Me, being of the hero sort, rush into save him or what's left of him. I was quickly overpowered and killed. The players in the server watched in horror as the pair of us rushed in to the nether in vain,trying to get our gear and rails back. The pigmen showed no mercy. Finally after literally thousands of deaths, we finally pushed the back and gained a fraction of our gear back. Those rascals were using our own gear against us!

The reason why I am telling you this my fellow villuns, is why do they seem to aggro on people that haven't done anything? We've thought through it, and can't seem to think of anything. Any of you have any ideas why or how to stop this? (Typed on my phone so please excuse mistakes)

Clearly the pigmen have not learned from the first war! I say we declare a second to eliminate the pigmen threat once and for all!

You most likely strayed in to an area where somebody had previously attacked them.

Once agro'd by one person, Pigmen frequently remain agro against any and all people. Raiding the pigmen tends to do nothing but create a large area of nether that remains unsafe for anybody, involved in the raid or not.

might be that there was an inadvertent arrow shot at a ghast that went astray or an accidental swat when you tried to put out a fire...they are touchy creatures.

We were by a bunch of passive pigmen, then walked down the stairs we made and they attacked us. Might be that aggro kind of area you're taking about Al.

Willie, myself, and Stella had a similar experience. In our experience, no one had initiated anything with them at all. They also took Willie's best armour, which was heavily enchanted diamond armour, and began to chase us through portals and would not die. We had the similar results until Willie finally killed the ring leader. It was beyond annoying.
