Weird single-player world

Post by Tungsten » Fri Jan 21, 2011 2:14 pm

I started a new single-player map, and it spawned me in a snowy area. Well, the area was really strange. Patches of snow floated above the ground, frozen "oceans" which had no water (essentially just a layer of ice) and two dungeons near each other about two or three blocks below the surface (sand collapsed on one of them and exposed it to sunlight, preventing spiders from spawning. Free iron!)

After getting a base set up on the surface, I explored the "main" cave system, which I retreated from hastily after realizing the ceiling was made of sand. I found a side cave which lead to a huge opening...which lead to a waterfall...which lead to lava...which lead to treasure everywhere.

So far, my inventory for the cave is...
8 blue ore
16 diamond
70+ iron
20+ gold
100+ redstone
An absurd amount of coal

And that's only after one day of exploring. There's still a bunch of of stuff which I haven't mined yet...but still...it's nuts. I'll provide some pictures later.

Most excellent :-D

Here's hoping the map reset on Stevo's SMP server will result in similar riches for us all :-)

I've noticed most of my single-player levels that have been generated after the last patch have been...odd. Here's hoping that the new map on Stevo's server doesn't just provide abundant riches, but also a lot of weird or strange formations.

I really wish there was a way I could share the map with other people...or host a server...but God knows my computer is in no shape to host any type of server. I tried, but that 90%+ usage...

I generated a new world the other day to get a good idea on the mineral distribution. Used a map viewer and what not. Blue ore is found above the ordinary lava level only and there is about the same amount as diamond(at least, the same amount of ore veins). In doing this, I noticed that the large cavern I had started to explore spanned an area larger than the map that was generated. Endless caverns all the way down to the largest lava lake you have ever seen. Not just endless caverns though, it was all aranged in such a way that a somewhat central kind of shaft had enourmous waterfalls and cavern sub systems that spidered out of it, one of which was connected to a whole nother system of caverns. I figured it was in my best interest to not try and explore the entire thing.
